Welcome, Lemarchand.

That's sounds pretty cool. Reasonably plausible even.

A fella could get used to that...lol

WEll, if you think of a modern inner-city non-gas house.. how much fire does one generally see in daily use? Inner city? I think they've all seen lighters. Everyone in the world is familliar with fire. Everyone has seen someone light a cigarette, a house burn, someone cooking on gas, a candle, or s...

That's helpful. It looks like you did layers and then quilted, as opposed to stuffing batting into tubes. How thick did you make it? Also, how thick is the aventail liner? It looks kinda fluffy, which I imagine helps it to move better, and am not sure how to get fluffy with batting. The aventail lin...

So, you're looking for something sub-LH quality, but good enough to look right to all but the most knowledgable? I can do it. Obviously price varries depending on what hardware, and how intricate the design is. Carved, stamped, tooled, it all makes a difference. I'd love to give it bash. Christopher

You mean "Is that fire real?" isn't a stupid question? My fight director at faire was warning us about stupid people, especially stupid drunk people. At a faire many years ago, he was wearing a peascod with a center ridge. Man comes up to him contending that the armour wasn't real. The exc...

How Many Rings in a Camail?

Assuming the rings at the standard 3/8"-ish ID. This is regular bascinet camail. Ballpark figure, I know numbers will vary depending on a million little details.

And would there be a dramatic difference in number between round and flat rings?

Thanks,
Christopher

I've been contemplating getting a 10kg (20lb) bar of steel, attaching a handle and taking it to some displays. If any stupid questions as to the weight of a blade I'll hand over the pig and tell them to go swing it. I'll give $100 to anyone that swings it more than 1 minute. Brilliant. Christopher

Don't try to dye them. Acryllic paint is your best bet, just make sure you spray it down with Super Sheen or something after the paint has dried for a day or two. I doesn't have to look like ass-ass. I need to post pics of my youngest stepson's armour I made for Halloween. There's not a drop of dye ...

During the stunt show my first year at the Ohio RenFest, me and one of the other guys were on the dock-shaped stage that sits against the front of the pirate ship, doing our hawking for the show, and our opening lines. I've found that even getting a little lighter helps. When I get down to my goal weight, it'll be like I've taken off a fanny pack with 60 pounds of lead ingots in it, and I think I'll be a lot less likely to injure a knee or ankle. From my personal experience (I dropped from ~275 to ~195 over 8 mon...

Stupid Close Cell Foam Question

Where do I get it? Is there a special type of close cell foam? I assume I can snag it at Walmart. Other than being 1/2" thick and closed cell, anything I need to know? I want to do a period liner, but I gotta find out if my new lid fits my head. I figure foam is the fastest way. Thanks. Christo...

Brown would be ubiquitous, I should think. But I think any color found historically would work. Some reivers had castles and full harnesses (for show, they'd get in the way on raiding). So I imagine you'd find all colors depending on the prosperity of the reiver. But brown and black always work. Chr...
