That sums it up. Would the padding for the camil/aventail be under the hat, or sewn to the band that holds on the maille?
Historically speaking, of course.
Thanks,
Christopher

Camails On a Bargrill Bascinet
I just got my new (and first) bascinet. It's from Mad Matt (the pic of the low profile bargrill on his site is my hat), and has a fixed grill. I'm looking for pics and advice on what the camail/aventail should look like in the face area. I got the shape of the camail band and all of that, the vervel...

I'm not sending a comment to the BoD. Why? It doesn't matter. We already have personnas pre-dating Romulus Augustus in the SCA. We have people post dating 1600 (the only hard/fast date in the SCA rules). Think pirates and anyone wearing exposed DVA. There are some killer Classical world personnas in...

Starfire isn't a sword. Barstock gives it too much credit. It's a flat-ish crowbar with a hilt. Plenty of experience with them. They are designed for stage so that they can survive edge on edge parrying. Hence they balance like a crowbar. Except one of the cutlasses I handled. That one was close. St...

How much heavy gear do you want? Are you going for minimums, or do you want something closer to cap-a-pie? What look do you want? What century? What culture? I can put you into a minimum torso you can get into and out of in about 10 seconds. Looks period too. With a 1-piece arm harness you can get g...

I wouldn't worry about the ship, Capt'n. Not because it would KICK UNSPEAKABLE AMOUNTS OF ASS TO HAVE A COG OR CARRACK (wiping drool), but because, these are events on land. Sturtebeker would have not had a ship if he was attending a festival of some sort inland. Harald Hardrada was not camping with...

You used a .22 on pigs? Wow. I've known guys wth callouses capable of handling a .22 bullet. A human can get hit with a .22 and not know it till the blood was noticed (think President Reagan). Bad cartridge to kill an animal with heavier bones than people with. Eyes and mouth are the bigge. A thrust...

Who Was Selling Books On Here...
...A while back?
I agreed to buy 2 of them, but all the info was gone in the Great Flush. If you remember agreeing to sell me books, please contact me. I forgot all about it after the last 8 months disappeared.
Sorry.
Thanks,
Christopher

As far as being a specific tribe of Celt, why not Senones or other Gallia Celtica tribes? Historical Goths are lacking. Modern goths are in over-abundance. Magyars. I'd like to see Magyars. Huns. Dacians. Terra Cotta Warrior era Chinese. Khazars would rule. Especially Jewish Khazars. And yeah, would...

Nissan Maxima wrote:You are right. I did some work to make the wallace details, which are for a different form, fit the helm I like. Now all I have to do is get the helm made.
That would be sooooooooooo awesome, Nissan.
How are you gonna treat the rest of the Almayne to go with something like this?
