Thanks!

Yeah, but those are the next step up for me. And mine will cost a bit more cause I'll want him to take them a bit higher ( I have long legs...lol). The Revival clothing ones are a bit of a reach. The Revival.us ones are closer to my budget. But I can splurge the extra 30 bucks. Splurging an extra hu...

Which Shoe Looks Less Wrong?
Ok, that's a terrible question to ask. But I can't afford the shoes I want. I gotta wear something (my Mary Rose shoes just won't look right with my 13th century clothes), so....which of these shoes look to you guys most right for an impression in the 3rd quarter of the 13th century? There's these f...

Aha....Thanks for the links. Judging from the links you all have shared, it looks like solid was most common, with kings and really really big wigs showing their heraldry on cotes. Is there a huge master list of period manuscripts and statues and effigies, etc and where to find them online or in har...

Konstantin speaks the truth. Go buy yourself at the very least a proper beveler: m And a ball-point stylus: m For punching holes, use a drill and drill them out, or go to your local Ace Hardware and get a hole punch of the size you want. You can get a swivel knife for your decorative cuts (or in thi...

I do almost all my pattern making on the good side. Helps me avoid the crappy bits. Have you dyed it yet? And where are the marks showing? if it's just the perimeters, then Losthelm is right, it should go away when you bevel the edges (you are doing this, aren't you?). If it's in the middle, then ro...

Try aloe juice for the ibuprofen induced ulcers. I had a back injury once that had me on 3200 mg of ibuprofen a day. You can get it in the pharmacy section of Walmart, and I imagine most other pharmacies. I'm not gonna guarantee results, but it works for me. Also helps with the acid reflux. Tastes.....

Wet-bake hardened leather doesn't soften in the sun. If it gets really really soaked it might start to soften. But you just wet-bake it again. And if it's raining that hard, you shouldn't be doing any armoured stuff outside anyway. I'm about to start experimenting with a 1:5 Titebond 3 no-bake solut...

Nasal. That is an interesting interpretation...lol. You don't happen to have a verbatim translation of the Hebrew description do you? Well, I figured since this only appears once it was because of the specific Scriptural mention. But in other manuscripts (or brasses or statues) in Northern/Central/W...

Goliath's Greaves in the Maciejowski Bible
Is there any evidence that anyone from the HRE and points North or West wore these during the 13th century? I know Scripture (at least Protestant translations, I don't read Latin, so I can only assume the Vulgate does), mentions them specifically. Brass, in the King James. I dunno if them being show...

Sir Robert De Ros (Roos)
On the MCS site there is an effigy of Baron Sir Robert de Roos (9th one down dated 1227):
http://www.themcs.org/armour/14th%20cen ... armour.htm
Is he wearing a sleeved surcote over his armour? Or is it some other type of garment?
Also, Heinrich von Hessen 1298 from Effigies and Brasses:

Thanks!

Heraldry on Surcotes
Bout when did guys in the HRE start wearing their arms on surcotes into battle? I know in the Maciejowski Bible it's pretty much all solid colors. But is this because that was the style at the time? Was it because it's all guys from Scripture who had no heraldry for the artist(s) to display? I don't...

The exhibit? As in only one? My assumption was that they would have the bulk of survivng stuff and imagery from the Electorate at the museum in Dresden. And maybe other places small collections that may be open to the public, etc. To be honest, I dunno what all they have. I moved to Williamsburg bec...

Finding the extant images or even actual items of clothing and armour of 16th century Saxony. I've found a few things like the Svante Sture clothes, and a few of the links that get posted. Just remember, that's the only depiction of greaves in the Maciejowski Bible (if there are others, PLEASE show me I'm wrong, I want to be wrong...lol), and those are on Goliath. Probably the only reason he has them is that they are mentioned specifically in Scripture. Even the fancy pants kings aren...
