Yeah, at that temp, you're causing the water to boil. Definitely not what you want to happen. well, that might explain it. I had to set the old oven to 250, and have been trying from there! I am retarded. You don't want it really above 190, and not below 160. Like Dan said, 180 is spot on. Yeah, the...

Still it's a total of $260 for a spiff helm. Not too bad....

It wasn't a Wisby. I should have used a Wisby 7. Only 2 horizontal plates on that. This is a later style, with a bunch or horizontal plates, and vertical plates around the sides. It's the kind that Mad Matt was making. I got no complaints with what I got. The plates were shaped and drilled. The fail...

Thanks for the replies everyone! Initially I was going to make leather loaner. It's my medium, I have a good idea of what I'm doing, and I've made some fairly spiff stuff. The idea for the armour being ugly was mostly to make sure it didn't walk away. Kerry; I tried making a CoP. That's the part tha...

Practical Question for Loaner Armour

Hey, everyone. Been a looong time. It's good to be back. I was making loaner armour for my Shire. First try beat me. Badly. Now I'm going back with my original, looks-like-hell, a-historical, no-one-on-earth would want to steal it leather design. It's the design I was going to do before I was seduce...

Only thing I think that throws me is the nic-plate buckles and rings. Other than that tho, its absolutely killer.

Is the pommel peened on visibly, or is there no visible peening? I can't recall the smith's name if it's the one I think you mean (I'm thinking Peter). It makes the warranty invalid, as they are only covered for the life of the smith. One of my swords is a Highland Steele. Love it. Christopher

It'd look pretty sweet as a Hussar rig. That would also mean you get to add leopard skin. Maybe not what you meant by furs and leather, but it'd look sweet. also means bazubands are correct for your portrayal.

And a well done Polish hussar is just a killer look.
