I am curious why there is a strip of maille sewn on top of the cloth between the back of the hand and the wrist. Did Japanese armour historically articulate on maille? It gives a nice effect, and they look amazing.

I kind of agree with Vebrand and Sir Finn (mostly because I am around the same time-period). If we want to hav 14th century stuff, then start a 14th century group, or rewrite Copora. Otherwise, lets stay with what we have. The only problem I have with the Manessa Codex picture Sir Rhys posted, is th...

I have a Viking (not from Panther) and it is the easiest tent I have ever set up. Sir Rhys, what I was getting at was that volleys of arrows being fired would help to create the effect of covering up, along with the psychological effect of "Oh sh*t, I am getting shot at by lots of guys!" and would influence the fighting to a degree, simply by the need to keep in mind the volleys....

While ignoring for a second the targeting issues, I think Alfred of Carlyle might be on to something. By forcing the archers to shoot within a limited area, it kind of forces them to volley. Historically, we can all agree that a group of archers is probably a lot more accurate than a lone archer sne...

If they are the same hardness as roofing nails, just pound on them. I never manage to get that mice mushroom effect, but ignore the tap, tap, tap when riveting with copper ones, and just whack it good a couple of times in the center. Works just fine for me.

The other reason I like duct/strapping/fibre tape, is that there is nothing that can be at all sharp near your hand. Have helped several people out with this trick, and only one of them decided to go back. It is so easy to replace, and holds for such a long time, why bother using anything else?
