Agreed, but anything more than a scrape, aka. Blood gets in the way, at least now, gets a strip of paper or cloth wrapped around it (to soak up the blood). Most diseases are not simply free-floating in the dirt and air around us, as I worked outdoors for the equivalent of the last 2 years (over abou...

I am wondering if I take out the screws, and the extra bar thingy at the top, if I can fit a duct-tape rope through it. Basically a loong piece of tape that is spun around itself until it is tight, and then wrapped around it.

Get the image you want, go into MS Paint, and then keep "stretching" the image by 75% until it is below 75x75 pixels (you can see how big it is in Windows when you save it). Then upload it.

How heavy is the basket hilt? Does it have any other way to be attached besides screwing it on (aka. a strip of metal I could duct tape around?) May be interested, as I am looking for a lighter wire basket.

If you just want a hip hanger, I have a sword I picked up when I started playing SCA. Its a wall hanger, and would probably need a new pommel (this one has what looks like a whale's tailfin.) The crossguard is straight, instead of angled, but the price is right. Let me know if you are interested. Yo...

Dude, are you trying to start a fight? What other section do you think it fits into more? All of the people in this thread are trying proactively to change the rules, acting within the system, instead of sitting in a corner and sulking. I have only fought in kingdoms that require an elbow behind the...

Just to help people point you in the right direction, what periods are you looking at? Pointing you to a Viking LH group doesnt help if you have a 14th cent. interest. If you are willing to give it a second chance, I would suggest looking around at different areas of the SCA. Sometimes groups that a...

What is with the vertical line of rivets at around halfway point? Something about the Topfhelm just looks off to me, partially because it looks too round, and it almost seems like there is a ridge on the top of the helm (like a really flattened norman).

My lady has worn a woven belt she made that was an ivory/off white, that was made out of woven yarn. She also wove some red strips through it so it would be recognizeable from a knight's belt.

Depends. I like the feel, weight, and sound of a wooden shield (and the fact that all the aluminum ones are too short might have something to do with it). Aluminum ones are lighter, and pretty much are indestructable (at least the T-6 ones, street signs are a different story). I know Sir Thorfinn se...

Generally, Stainless is considered to be 1 to 2 gauges stronger than the same gauge in mild. You also dont have to worry about rust. It is a bit shinier, which to some looks ahistorical. It is a lot harder to work, which is why armourers charge higher prices.

Most people will make their own shields out of wood, unless you plan on doing something fairly different to them. Sir Vitus has a secret epoxy stuff he puts on his that makes it so they dont need to be edged, but if you are running generic shield blanks, most people wont pay money for something they...

The problem with making a generi-cloak is precisely that. It is generic, and doesnt precisely fit in any of the personas. I would make different things for your different personas, so they look "right".

so it's most likely to avoid someone authorized in 9' spear from just standing out at range and ganking someone authorized only sword and board in a tourney .
