That is really what I was wondering. I choose to wear safety gear underneath my armour, so except for a baskethilt, and my grill (only which about half is visible), I am authentic. Somehow, I dont think a child is going to mind the bargrill (they have gotten used to stuff like that with football pla...

You might want to consider adding handles as an option, instead of making it standard. I know a lot of people around here have definate prefereces with their grips, how they are angled, planed, shaped, etc.

I would suggest the cuff plates, so as to make the entire thing SCA legal. Even if it is not riveted together. No idea what something like this is worth. I would be happy to be a guinea pig, and post reviews and stuff (hint hint 8) )

How much work would be involved in putting these together? Are they pre-riveted sections (the main body, each finger, etc)? Are you asking what people would pay? I would be interested, not sure exactly how 18ga will hold up to SCA combat.

I am probably going to go with Cambria, as I only have about $30 to spend. I dont want to add plates to the gambeson, both because it would be a pain to stitch pockets in, and it sometimes moves out of the way. Right now I am wearing a heavily padded gambeson, so I dont think cuisses are going to do...

What are you fighting on can make a difference as well. If it is concrete, or stone, that will wear through it a lot faster. You might want to bring a padded cloth for tournaments. When you get legged, go down, an then if they back off, and let you get comfortable (not that I am saying to expect it,...

Padded Shorts Options?

Hey Guys, I have finally decided that the gambeson I wear doesnt give my legs enough protection (evidenced by the bruises on my left leg). No, the armourer should have as much exclusivity as any other business. I have usually either made most of my stuff, or bought it used (as I cant afford newer stuff right now), to demonstrate where I am coming from. When I buy anything new that is not a munitions-style normal stock piece, I treat in...

No those are called speed or Tandy rivets. Pop rivets need a pop gun (<insert rim shot here>), and work by pulling a small ball through a tube expanding it and "locking" it against the metal. They are also really sharp, and should never be used for SCA armour.

It can be done, with the leather you have. I would look around here for the rabbit glue method (as that has seemed to work with thinner leathers). What exactly are you using this for (boffer, SCA, LH)? You will also need different tools to work with the leather (cutting, edging, riveting). Once you ...
