Just read my mind. The outer shell/vest of my gambeson is done, and I have semi-medieval looking boots that I wear right now, so enough to get a good idea of my kit. What are the emails I need to send this to, or would it be easier for me to host the pictures and post the link on the thread? Doesnt ...

around 2ftx3'8" Oswyn OH MY GOD!!! how do you fight around your Pavaise? I have a standard 24"x36" heater I find it better for defending in a shield wall or bridge battle than my smaller centergrip round. I have a Sir Vitus 19"x31" heater that I have plans to strap historicly (at least in my mind i...

Quick Strapping Secret: Have a friend hold the shield in your "ready" spot. Position your hand so it is comfortable (I use a heater, and it moved from in the corner to about 1am off center). Then mount your hand protection/grip. Make sure it is natural, and in line for that point (aka, hand should b...

Sorry was referring mostly to sea turtles. Anything that is endangered is illegal, which is all sea turtles. Most of the "tortise shell" jewelry stuff is made from Hawksbill sea turtles. Pretty sure snapping turtles are fine, not sure about Alligator snapping turtles (their bigger older nastier brot...

Just a quick reminder to everyone...Turtle is illegal to buy, sell or trade in the US (with special exceptions for grandfathered items). I have worked in Environmental Education, and we have some items Customs gave us back that they seized. Most people know about ivory, and furs, but most turtle and...

It is a great show as long as you remember they are trying to do it in time for production. The biggest show I have disagreed with is the Robin Hood one (split an arrow from nock to tip). They tried to engineer it so it would hit straight by using a tube (ignoring archer's paradox of arrow flex), an...

The two main modification differences are you need to accomodate for around the forearm (the flap) and the distance between your elbow and wrist. Be careful not to make the back slit too big, as it makes it ride uncomfortably high when you straighten your arm. I personally sew the back slit closed, ...

Exactly how much of a time variance will be allowed? The reason I am asking is I can pretty much document my kit, but it ranges a bit from one part to the next (really, the shoes are the farthest from everything else). I am doing a 12th Century Crusader, and am looking at making a pair of Jorvick Vi...

I am going to go with fur...or simply a tunic. Most people have problems with minimal armour, but that is mostly because the people doing it are sport fighters who do not care about the accuracy. I currently fight in Society minimums, with a huge shield, but will eventally be adding maille, and have...

I have also seen leather "wineskins". They sell them commercially in suede, with a bag inside, but I have wanted to try and make one out of leather. Think of a swooping horn/cornicopia, and you have an idea of the shape. The ones I saw out of leather had the seams on the inside for all of one side, ...

It sounds like you have the idea down of how to get it started. I would make several mockups (mine tend to fall apart or otherwise disappear), and measure just about everyplace you think you might need. The only other advice I can give, is have someone else measure and look for gaps/binds, and measu...

Yeah, materials tend to add up fast. I will take a picture of the bazuband pattern and send it to you. Some of it is just artistic flairing, you can mess around with it to get it to fit you. Sits in your elbow, can get it about 98% extended before digging in slightly, great protection. I have a pair...

I usually just put a simple square/sewing knot (loop over itself and tighten). Sit about two or three on top of each other to make sure it wont go through the leather, and if you can hide it underneath something, even better. Otherwise, put some more wax on it and try to make it flush with the leath...

Calling All Crusaders...
Spotted this on ebay, and currently bidding on one of her rings. Great way to accent a formal letter, with a wax seal. Looks to be authentic, all other auctions seem to be legit too.
