My Norman weighs about 10-12 pounds, and I am about to add a butted 16 ga drape, making it easily the heaviest part of my kit (might equal the rest of the kit put together), not counting the door I call a sheild :P

Just read my mind. The outer shell/vest of my gambeson is done, and I have semi-medieval looking boots that I wear right now, so enough to get a good idea of my kit. What are the emails I need to send this to, or would it be easier for me to host the pictures and post the link on the thread? Doesnt ...

I have a standard 24"x36" heater I find it better for defending in a shield wall or bridge battle than my smaller centergrip round. Quick Strapping Secret: Have a friend hold the shield in your "ready" spot. Position your hand so it is comfortable (I use a heater, and it moved from in the corner to about 1am off center). Then mount your hand protection/grip. Make sure it is natural, and in line for that point (aka, hand should b...

It is a great show as long as you remember they are trying to do it in time for production. The biggest show I have disagreed with is the Robin Hood one (split an arrow from nock to tip). They tried to engineer it so it would hit straight by using a tube (ignoring archer's paradox of arrow flex), an...

Be careful not to make the back slit too big, as it makes it ride uncomfortably high when you straighten your arm. I personally sew the back slit closed, ...

Just a quick question/critique. Is the spangen the only one available with a slat or solid back (the Norman and Crusader can't)? The reason I am questioning is that the back is only mentioned in the spangen section and not the others. Love the new site.

Yeah, materials tend to add up fast. I will take a picture of the bazuband pattern and send it to you. Some of it is just artistic flairing, you can mess around with it to get it to fit you. I usually just put a simple square/sewing knot (loop over itself and tighten). Sit about two or three on top of each other to make sure it wont go through the leather, and if you can hide it underneath something, even better. Otherwise, put some more wax on it and try to make it flush with the leath...

Spotted this on ebay, and currently bidding on one of her rings. Great way to accent a formal letter, with a wax seal. Looks to be authentic, all other auctions seem to be legit too.
