That's a lovely looking conical helm, I love the nasal especially the upsweeping decoration. Why an aventail though? It doesn't need one and they're more associated with Vike helmets afaik. Most people in the SCA hang an aventail to simulate wearing a coif underneath. Since the true helm would have...

The seax was falling out of use by about the 11th century, so that would definitely not be appropriate. I am sure the Irish (like everyone else) had some kind of sharp pointy small object available.

It has nothing to do with the fact that they are not Fathers. So make the list field a circle? No corners then....

Not to mention the one you linked to is not SCA legal. Looks like a nice helm, but unfortunately a limited market that is interested in a) that timeperiod, and b) helms like that.

Edited: Meant the troll link was not SCA legal. The OP looks sweet.

Depending on what you are looking for, I know Windrose also carries welded aventails (which they install on their helms). Given that the operator is frequently on the AA, it may be another route to try, if you are uncomfortable with the first.

With the exception of the shield (kind of) you look like you are going for more of a byzantine look. Greaves, bazubands, lamellar all fall in this category. A ton of buffing would go a long way into making it not bleed. Also, I would use a really light hand dying the back, as almost no-one will see it.
