Chris, worst case scenario is the end of the linen is ruined. It is very acceptable for your time period to have the last several inches of the sleeve to be a different material. Find a matching (meaning goes with, not exact color) linen and relace the last few stained inches of the tunic. More work...

Fergus: Camric and I spent most of our time in London with Sirs Alexis, Godwin & Ulstead. They are getting pics from me. Odo: I also ran into Sirs Richard & Robert, and agree they are both excellent knights. I have done some live steel training stuff with them previously, and both of my knights woul...

Fighting against cavalry at Hastings
Hopefully if I am doing this right, I will post 2 video clips of the cavalry charge at Hastings this past week. This was such an amazing experience, and something I would never want to experience in a real life or death fight. Uric http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/th_100_1384.jpg h...

This was truly one of the most amazing things I have done as well. From the cavalry, to the archers, to the fighting. The archers were using a high arch, but I saw several people shot. I guy in the testicle, and he went down pretty good. I was next to Camric who got shot in the arm, and Halgrim who ...

A port-a-cath is fairly durable, especially the port which is right under the skin. I think that a little padded leather will be MORE than sufficient protection, especially in his age group. Metal would be overkill in my opinion, as well as extra weight for a young child to carry. You could probably...

I would have to disagree with James on referring you to Waldryk. Do a search on the Archive and you will see he has numerous complaints with his business practices. His work is beautiful, but as of now I am sitting at 18 months with almost non-existant communication, and him with my money. I will no...

The problem you are having is because of the medium you are using - plastic. If it is all you have, try heating it up and giving it a more bowl like shape. You can use a metal bowl to put the hot plastic in to help form it. Switch to leather as soon as possible. Funny plastic forming story. We had a...

Bigfredb, I generally make my kites with the top diameter 2 feet and the length right under 3 feet. I don't think you need it more than 2 feet wide personally and you can adjust the lenght to your height. Measure from your eyes to the top of your knee. I personally would not make it any longer than ...

I have been waiting almost 17 months now for my helm as well. The no longer return my calls or emails. It is very frustrating, and I am also at the point that I would NOT recommend him to ANYONE based on how I have been treated. When you do get them, it is always some excuse. They actually used him ...

Glen, go to Ebay. Search for 'viking trim'. The lady that goes by 'Viking trader lady' does some really nice stuff. I have gotten about 6-7 pieces from her and they are top notch. She will do color & pattern requests as well. With shipping it runs 10-12 bucks a yard, which is great for wool trim IMO...

To keep the quillions from spinning, I use small pieces of leather stuffed in there to make it tight. Build up tape above & below the quillion. You can also drill a tiny hole through the quillion to put a small nail, or just put a little epoxy when you put it on. For the pommel, I have switched to t...

My pell is made of 3 pieces of dock rope, each about 3-4 inches thick. It is suspended from a chain. Unlike a tire of sunken post, the rope does not give a lot of bounce back. Great for slow or full contact pell work. Other than that i would go with a heavy bag or the kicking dummy over a tire. Uric

I know my best friend got a helm from him and loved it. I ordered mine from his two Gulf Wars ago, the 4 month wait time turned into a year, and I finally received a helm way too big. It has been 2 months since I returned it, and have not been able to get a set date for my new helm. While I think hi...

Audax, also look at what time period you are portraying. I know that you were in the discussion about wearing mail, so not sure what your time period is. Since the SCA recognizes time periods without "knights", I would find a person more impressive when their secondary weapon matches their persona, ...

Lund stool
This was my first attempt at doing a Lund stool. The top is pine with hardwood legs. It has withstood a 300 pound knight test with the pine top, so it is pretty sturdy. I already have a few cut out of poplar, so those should be very nice. It works great as a fighting chair, camp stool, as well as a ...

I can't comment on the price of his gauntlets, but I just baught a set of the assembled fingers. With shipping I paid $135 for stainless. The fingers came assembled and riveted to leather. The leather extends about 2 inches around the entire piece, so it can be attached to a glove. I am doing a low ...
