Re: rondell hilts
For the three inch washer for the mace, I get the bottom is just screw on; but how do you secure the top one? I have my own dog kong mace and would like to barrow the idea for mine. The opening on the 3" washers is 1 1/4" so I use rattan a little bigger. I shape the handle to fit the wash...

I made a pattern off of a suit vest and made one out of linen. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/100_4814.jpg Add another layer of linen and make some channels to add foam strips or metal splints. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/100_4815.jpg And I like to mix some...

In the long run I don't think there will be an issue, my concern is the learning curve while the LESS experienced people start to play with them. That and the bigger battles where adrenaline and egos get fired up. I have a heavy, custom fitted helm that is strapped well, so my concern isn't really f...

The people that are doing bulk either are doing plasma cutting or using dies. Hand doing metal plates is very possible but you will lose your mind doing thousands of plates by hand. Not to mention the time you invest will never compete with the cost of a guy with a plasma cutter. There really are to...

You could try Darkwood Armory and see if it's something they could do. It is a possibility. Sir Brian has a water jet and cuts patterns out of pre-tempered steel slats. Then just keep hitting the water bucket as you grind it down. Brian has cut out a bunch of blade blanks for me and it is much bett...

How is the vission with the maille so far up the face and what, and little more than an inch below the bottom of the helm brow? http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/100_4058.jpg You actually see pretty well through the maille. It really doesn't affect the vision more than the bars wit...

Honestly, those little stitching awls like you've got are not worth much of anything If you're going to do gun leather, you're going to be better off handsewing with a proper saddle stitch than working with that little machine. Saddle stitching is markedly superior to loop and lock style stitching ...

I would also have shot that guy. After watching you throw yourself across the line in the Ravine again and again, after having watched a video of you doing a deed over the best pie, I say I don't believe you. The fight was won and your pay earned, I say the villain would have gone in and killed him...

You will not believe what this is going to do to their abilities- expect miraculous improvement. Yes. Because the average SCA fighter practice consists of 6-10 people standing around and talking in armour with an occasional bear-pit springing up and happening in a haphazard fashion. Actual organize...

Oh here is another sin....when I was an unbelt I would seek out and _punish_ newly dubbed knights if I was jealous that they had been made before me(Shoulders, armpits, arms, ass). This wasn't generous of me. I was in a very dark place but that is no excuse for attempting to do harm to my fellows o...

I guess most guys have to trade their ability to feel shame for that white belt. Perhaps it is surgically removed at the vigil. I have always wondered what went on at those things. My vigil was more a stripping of pride that left me feeling humble. I guess what goes on at a vigil is as different as...

I was just reminded of one of my more shady moments of douchebaggery. This incident happened because of a combination of Pride with submission to Wrath, as well as my very touchy sense of chivalry. After 15 years, I really don't have any confessions from the field. Even as an angry youth, the fighting field always separated me from anger. It's wonderful to hear that you are also enjoying the new challenge of a smaller shield. It's sad that we didn't get to go dance a bit at BAM. We danced a tiny bit inside the fort and you blocked just fine. I went to Utah and trained a bit with Duke Sean and noticed improvements with one practice. ...
