For my body I wear a padded linen vest. It also has channels that can hold foam strips or stainless splints for proper kidney protection. Mail breathes great, just wear linen under it. Out in the sun for long periods it heats up, but cools quickly.

The catch to the zombie attackers was while they only had to call head shots, they still got hit other places. It looked like what most zombies ended up getting was PAIINNSSS!!!

Have you looked at Duke Paul's stuff? His video clips are with round shield. Can't get much better advice than from HG Paul. :D

Also Duke Gaston just posted video of him with HG Baldar, who is fighting with a center grip round. With slow motion scenes. Cool stuff.

I always have a small utility knife on my belt. If I am standing in court I will usually wear a sword. I wear my rebated sword for steel fighting 90% more than I wear a sharp one at SCA events.

Take ibuprofen of some kind before you start the work. Apply a sports cream to the area after the work. Don't plan on any other strenuous activity with said elbow the rest of the day. Except a few 12 oz curls. :D

A neoprene brace will also help.
