I agree with the face only, limited # of arrows and no gleaning. Face only addresses the issue of not having to call light body shots from arrows. No 360 targets, which would also be addressed by face only targeting. If I have to stomach being sniped on the field of honor, it should at least come fr...

+1 Robert. Cover the back of your shield. When I used to use an aluminum shield, I lined the back with wood grained contact paper. :D

Great advice so far. Long sleeves & greaves! If you really want to push your kit, get a historical image you are shooting for. While you kit is not bad, from your picture you could be shooting for any number of things. You are very much SCA and not specific enough on your chosen time period. Goo...

2k on just what I have now, but probably only 3k total (just armour). I was fighting for 10 years before I invested in my current rig. Most of what I wore beforehand I made myself so it was not overly expensive.

I was reading today a study that showed a significant decrease in ACL injuries in people who had stronger hamstrings. The hamstring apparently plays a significant role in knee stabilization.

Food for thought.

The cola will mess up the beeswax. Hell, that stuff takes corrosion off of engine blocks. There was this stuff called Envirotex (?) that was a sealer that dried more like a plastic. Some people on here used it with good results, but the FDA hadn't cleared it for food/beverage use. Not sure if I have...

Publicly refusing it smacks of refusing his apology and makes you look bad.

Accept his apology and let this rest.

You can go an inch or so shorter on the shoulder to knee scale, it is not absolute. You have described to me that you like to fight in close, so a smaller shield will benefit you when you are belly to belly. Up close a big shield will hinder you and a good opponent will keep it between you and them....

Kormak, not sure if you got my PM, but you need a lenght that is also comfortable to fight from your knees with. Shoulders to knees is a way you can measure. As shields get bigger, they hinder the carrier. HG Ulstead fights a different style than many kite fighters, and he is all about patience. HRH...

Good job! Although I think it looks crappy to wrap the red tape around the quillions of your greatsword. You can build the tape up above & below the hilt to keep it from moving. To stop twisting, drill a small hole and add a drop of wood glue and put a nail in it. The wood glue helps keep the ra...

William, for the SCA I would not to an integral coif. You will loose the look you are going for because the coif will be covered by a helmet that has sides and a bar face. While trying to look 100% authentic for your time, you loose the ability to hide the bars and sides of your helmet with a hung a...
