I have a pair of stainless finger gauntlets (Moore brothers) that I covered up. I used some thin deer skin and contact cement to cover the metal. Then I dyed it black like my gloves. It held up so so and regularly needs touch up. I later tried some paint on bed liner where the leather came off and t...

The odds are way low on Camric. Most people don't realize he has already won 3 lists. He was prince twice of the Principality before we became a Kingdom. Not to mention he is bad ass.

With all modesty I would say his odds are better than mine, but I am sneaky!

2 SCA rattan seax/sheath combos still left

I have 2 seax sheaths for sale. All are made of 3-4oz veg tanned leather stitched with waxed linen thread and sealed with linseed oil. Each sheath is 15 inches long. Each sheath comes with an 18" rattan seax with a thrusting tip. Like this: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/100...

You inspire a lot of folks. Keep enjoying yourself and show us pictures. :D

Sweet helm GP. That is going to look fantastic with the aventail. I would recommend bringing the mail to the top bar, it really completes the look.

Remember that a plastic vest will insulate the heat to your body, and you will overheat faster on warm days. For a hidden suit I think you would do better buying stainless plates. They will never crack or need to be replaced. Spend the little extra in the beginning and it will pay you back later. If...

I think one of the points is that we have personal preference and personal paths, so there is no one true way. I have put on more armour the longer I have played. I currently wear about 40 pounds of gear vs the hockey gear, plastic lamellar and pads I wore early on. I have had good tourney success w...

Use plywood for a practice shield. You can get a wood burner and burn lines in the back to make it LOOK like planks. You can glue canvas or burlap to the front as well to really make it look nice. Then trim with rawhide and all the cool kids will want one. 8)

We do not allow those in Gleann Abhann. That back spike is brutal on that thing and we find it way too easy to hurt someone with it.

I fight in a mail hauberk, and it does help some depending where & how you are hit. If I am moving/twisting and the skirt is flaring out it will take a good bit of momentum out of a hit. Around the hip where it just lays flat it doesn't do much but give you cool bruises. I wear a gambeson skirt ...

Cian, I'd really like to see one with the tangs welded on, coming down like a V. Depending on how it comes out, I'd probably be really interested in one. I see it as it takes about 3 months to get into his que to answer emails. Then it takes a year or so for the hauberk to be made. Stahlgrim, the main issue you would have with the rock bouncy balls is that they will hit and bounce away so fast, you will have fighters wondering what hit them. You get bumped and tinked from the people next to you, without something very visible I think many of those would be missed. That in turn...

The Darkwood hilts are fine. They have been around for about 15 years or more with zero issues from marshals. If no one has a problem with thin aluminum shields with door molding going in a grill then they should have no issue with this.

Sean, I could see no reason why you could not glean a rock if it was on the ground. We are allowed to throw back other thrown weapons, so I don't see why you couldn't.

Hell we could all just carry a few rocks out and just throw them. Why bother with a sling.
