I have a pair of stainless finger gauntlets (Moore brothers) that I covered up. I used some thin deer skin and contact cement to cover the metal. Then I dyed it black like my gloves. It held up so so and regularly needs touch up. I later tried some paint on bed liner where the leather came off and t...

2 SCA rattan seax/sheath combos still left
I have 2 seax sheaths for sale. All are made of 3-4oz veg tanned leather stitched with waxed linen thread and sealed with linseed oil. Each sheath is 15 inches long. Each sheath comes with an 18" rattan seax with a thrusting tip. Like this: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/100...

Here is a pic of mine. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o140/monkeybite/100_4584.jpg Alfred, I actually got the rope along the banks of the Mississippi down here. Another section I found in an empty lot, so I have actually never priced it or purchased it. You may want to check at the marina to see...

Remember that a plastic vest will insulate the heat to your body, and you will overheat faster on warm days. For a hidden suit I think you would do better buying stainless plates. They will never crack or need to be replaced. Spend the little extra in the beginning and it will pay you back later. If...

I think one of the points is that we have personal preference and personal paths, so there is no one true way. I have put on more armour the longer I have played. I currently wear about 40 pounds of gear vs the hockey gear, plastic lamellar and pads I wore early on. I have had good tourney success w...

I fight pretty much on instinct, which makes training people hard for me. It is hard to describe what I am doing. If I do watch anything it would be the shoulders. It is funny being trained by guys like Earl Camric (greenshield) who are so technical and read people so well. I remember when he was ad...

Cian, I'd really like to see one with the tangs welded on, coming down like a V. Depending on how it comes out, I'd probably be really interested in one. I hate the way my current aluminum one twists and I don't want to drill through it and put a nail where the rattan is already dealing with stress....

I see it as it takes about 3 months to get into his que to answer emails. Then it takes a year or so for the hauberk to be made. It takes forever, but the plus side is that you don't pay until it is done. So extreme patience is required. I have no doubts about the integrity of the man though and if ...

I'm not sure which one, but a KSCA was involved with this program. He tried to get some SCA people to send in demos, but from what he said the producers wanted muscle head-trash talkers. Oh well, brain candy for the majority of fuck tards that inhabit our planet. The ballistic gel dummies were cool ...

While I do not have any of Jehan's, I have some replica coins that I have given as largess. While of no monetary value, it does add that little something extra. I really enjoyed when they used to have the Gulf Wars coins that you bought at Troll for $1 a piece, and the merchants accepted them. They ...

Stahlgrim, the main issue you would have with the rock bouncy balls is that they will hit and bounce away so fast, you will have fighters wondering what hit them. You get bumped and tinked from the people next to you, without something very visible I think many of those would be missed. That in turn...

Oh, for some reason I thought it was the front of your neck. I will try to get a picture tomorrow to show how the back of my neck is protected. How well fitted is your helmet Owyn?? If I lean forward the lowest bar of my grill will rest on my chest, not to mention my drape will impede any shot coming forward. I would have to be held upside down for my throat to be open. Then again I have a custom, close fitting helm that was designed to hav...

The last part of my post was dripping with sarcasm, I just couldn't pick an emotion button that displayed what I was feeling. While I support CA, overall I think it takes away what many of us are after. I don't think I would ever call a tennis ball, and you would have to have an absurd rule to keep ...
