You will definitely want to point to an arming coat of some sort. I have one elbow cop on my shield side that doesnt have to be since my arm is bent most of the time. There I just use a Y shaped strap made from boot lace that slips up my arm. For the mean time, I would take the elbow cop and point i...

You can also check out Matweb.com for specific details. Its geared towards industry but has good info for us as well. To answer your question though, 304 is your most common stainless. Its a good workable/weldable stainless. 316 has some molybdenum, so it has higher corrosion resistance than 304 to ...

I love the silver duct tape, but be warned it will very quickly not be silver anymore. For whatever reason, the silver flakes off rather fast, even though the tape is still all there. However, its not that big of a deal since I redo my fashion tape before any special events anyway.

Nice job!

I have just switched my leg harness from a belt to a pourpoint. Without having fought in it, I can say it does feel better. It does feel like the weight is more on the front half of my body, but the legs hang naturally right where they are supposed to... Something I could never quite achieve with th...

Im admittedly guilty of using big box stores for most of my wood too. The biggest reason of course is ease, but I do try to make things look better. Most of my poles are made from closet rod, so its at least not a bunch of 2x2s. It looks better to me. I would love to find trees that were appropriate...

If I were to do it Suzerain, I would just make hilts, and have them designed to mount to a specific, common manufacturers blade. This is for a couple of reasons... 1) Since they have the appendix 5 list, anything not on that list is likely to get bounced or stuffed into an experimental status. Offer...

Cool, so it seems either Darkwood or ZWA is the way to go, but probably best to have a somewhat shorter blade. I like the fact that ZWA has stainless and finished hilts even if they are slightly more than the darkwoods newbie line. Im curious if the darkwood blades are that much more superior to jus...

Rapier sword advice?

I've been looking into a rapier to use with my HEMA group, and maybe one day SCA rapier as well. Whats the consensus on this sword from Zen warrior with the 40 inch rapier blade? If not this, then what would you recommend? I want a hilt that can be used with both hands equally well, and a blade that...

For Sale: Finger Gauntlets! **SOLD**

These finger gauntlets were made by Velund from Armour and Castings last spring. They are very nice, but a bit too big for me so I am letting them go to fund some other projects. They are 16 gauge mild steel with a bright polish. I have verified the thickness of the steel with good calipers. I need ...

Blued is just a chemical coloring of the metal. Stainless is a different type of steel that is typically stronger than mild steel. Also, Mad Matt is no longer taking new orders for armor, and as I understand it, is quitting the armoring business forever.

I was thinking sizing maybe an issue. I have moved it all over the place and cant get it to sit right. If its shifted up, it lifts at the bottom, shifted down, and it lifts the top. Kinda creates a scissoring action that scares me.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not sure what you mean by the first part, are you refering to power in the cut? As to the second portion of your statement I can show the use of poleaxes out of harness (Joachim Meyer for one). Also as C&T operates as a subset of rapier, and rapier allows the option for armour as worn I don...
