You will definitely want to point to an arming coat of some sort. I have one elbow cop on my shield side that doesnt have to be since my arm is bent most of the time. There I just use a Y shaped strap made from boot lace that slips up my arm. For the mean time, I would take the elbow cop and point i...

You can also check out Matweb.com for specific details. Its geared towards industry but has good info for us as well. To answer your question though, 304 is your most common stainless. Its a good workable/weldable stainless. 316 has some molybdenum, so it has higher corrosion resistance than 304 to ...

I have just switched my leg harness from a belt to a pourpoint. Without having fought in it, I can say it does feel better. It does feel like the weight is more on the front half of my body, but the legs hang naturally right where they are supposed to... Something I could never quite achieve with th...

Im admittedly guilty of using big box stores for most of my wood too. The biggest reason of course is ease, but I do try to make things look better. Most of my poles are made from closet rod, so its at least not a bunch of 2x2s. It looks better to me. I would love to find trees that were appropriate...

If I were to do it Suzerain, I would just make hilts, and have them designed to mount to a specific, common manufacturers blade. This is for a couple of reasons... 1) Since they have the appendix 5 list, anything not on that list is likely to get bounced or stuffed into an experimental status. Offer...

Cool, so it seems either Darkwood or ZWA is the way to go, but probably best to have a somewhat shorter blade. I like the fact that ZWA has stainless and finished hilts even if they are slightly more than the darkwoods newbie line. Im curious if the darkwood blades are that much more superior to jus...

Rapier sword advice?
I've been looking into a rapier to use with my HEMA group, and maybe one day SCA rapier as well. Whats the consensus on this sword from Zen warrior with the 40 inch rapier blade? If not this, then what would you recommend? I want a hilt that can be used with both hands equally well, and a blade that...

For Sale: Finger Gauntlets! **SOLD**
These finger gauntlets were made by Velund from Armour and Castings last spring. They are very nice, but a bit too big for me so I am letting them go to fund some other projects. They are 16 gauge mild steel with a bright polish. I have verified the thickness of the steel with good calipers. I need ...

I love my RW 5Jr. I use it to punch leather as well For a COP in normal materials and thicknesses it will save you a boat load of time. Much faster to punch than drill. I do recommend you get an automatic center punch though. You can put divots in to help locate and center the punch which actually s...

I say they both are wearing standard cops. The guy on the rights banding doesnt seem to be plates, as they extend all the way down to the hem of the coat without any change in size and continue out onto the dagging. That makes no sense. Its likely some colored banding in cloth with alternating color...

So the issue, really, is to get the definition of Cut and Thrust adjusted to encompass what it actually is - fighting in armour :snip: I see having a top end goal that moves up and out a bit to include tilting and armoured combat with weapons like the HE axes to be a positive thing. Gives many of u...

Respectfully, why did you cut off the point that sets up the statement you quoted? I said that there needs to be a form that goes beyond heavy fighting... By this I am referring to one that allows grappling, full body targeting and take downs in armor The historical use of those axes goes way beyond...
