Re: 14th Century grab bag of armour, Spring, Mild, Aluninum,

Hmm, So I am guessing that it doesnt fall that far on the shoulders then? You don't happen to have a pic of it on the old helmet as a ponit of reference do you?

Re: 14th Century grab bag of armour, Spring, Mild, Aluninum,

So what I mean is..
It closes around the neck correct? But leaves the visor/bargrill portion open.

What I am trying to discern is if it will work on a bascinet.

Well this is to cut them so I can get the plaques off of them. Not so they are any specific length.
I am trying to get the plaques off the old belt so I can put them onto a new belt.

How do you cut little rivets???

I have a plaque belt that I used 1/8 inch rivets to recure them to.
I can't cut the damn little things!

I tried a bolt cutter, but it was too bug and couldn't get down the shank enough.

Would regular snips work?

Therion Arms Review

5/5 Stars. I needed an inexpensive aventail for a Kids Photo shoot at a local Vacation Bible School. And I needed it in a very short amount of time. I saw Hal had one of his $30 butted specials and sent him an email about if he thought I would get it in time. He responded that night, saying it was t...

My plan is even simpler than Ranifs. Probably no spoked wheels though.

Re: Has anyone here made a cart?

I was looking for plans online. the one I am going to make is going to be very simple. Wheels are the crux. I was thinking the spool, but I guess it has been a while since I have seen a spool. When i was a kid I had spool that was abotu 3 feet across. I was a little nerd, fliped it up on end, and ha...

Re: Pheonix Dawn Plate Armour: Designing a Zweihander!

Just a caution... if you are planning on walking around in public wearing this you may want to forgo brining the sword.
Some cities don't appreciate it, and you might get stopped by police.

Huh. I've never seen a barbute with that high of a back point. I can believe the visor bit though. You see some depictions of barbutes with the high point. those Italians,m I swear they had funny shaped heads. I, while no expert, belive what classifies this ias a barbute, is: Of course the face ope...

Re: Issues with an Effigy dating...

I can give a couple of years leeway I suppose. :P And will admit that I only did a quick look using Galfrid's sites that are available to me here at work. Would I be wrong in assuming that before 1420-25 they were not really common? I would have said 1425-30. Now I will also admit, for the most part...

This one- http://cartelfr.louvre.fr/pub/fr/image/3636_s0000352.001.jpg I know it says 1418 on it, but it just doesnt look right. And I am unable to find anythign similar in Manuscripts or art in that time period to back up the dating. The style just seems (to me) that it would be later than what it ...
