Re: Osprey Publishing books: why the hate?
Graham Turner's illsutrations are pretty darn good. He's one of the few who actually does his own reasearch on things. Also being a jouster he tends to have a good idea of how the armor hangs on a human body.

Re: possible to weld separate fingers together?
From what, I've seen, finger gauntlets usually cost more than mittens. Sell the finger gauntlets, buy mittens, and have money left over. He doesn't need to sell anything. Thats why I asked for a picture of the guantlets. Depending on what the fingers look like they can be made perfectly legal with ...

Re: Etsy Armor Fun
Theres one person I decided not to buy anything from. They have a LOT of medieval-ish clothes on there. Morgans Creations or something. I sent them a note asking if there was any way to get something in a short timeframe, I think it was a week from the day I sent the email. I asked if I bought it ri...

Mine is not sleeved. It is the same general shape of Vilhelms. With Fancy round dags on the bottom edge. I actually really want to make or have a better one made with my arms appliquied on the front and back. Depends on how accuarate you want to be. There are depictions of mail and breastplates bein...

Re: IWTB a CotT guy... 1351
I have a pair of finger bucklers that I never use. If you get the right padding behind the fingers, or if the fingers ground out (touch before) on the rattan you really won't need them. I highly reccomend a Jupon of some form, with your heraldry on it! And sabatons. While you don't "need" them hey r...

Re: possible to weld separate fingers together?
You should post a picture of the finger gauntlets you have. I have finger gauntlets, they are the only gauntlets I own and fight a number of different forms with them. Are the fingers not suitable for figning on thier own? Mine wouldn't be, but I have a low profile street hockey glove sewn into them.

Henrik, Just as a point. I am not aware of the "Big Round" shoulder pieces being from the 14th century. Are you talking about something like this? http://s1.gambeson.pl/pf/m/1744/puffed-sleeves-doublet-late-15th-century.jpg Also known as Mahoitered sleeves, or sometimes called Burgundian Sleeves. Th...

If anybody was using PED in SCA fighting they have some serious, SERIOUS issues with thier priorites and reality.
I only state SCA fighting becuase thats the realm I function in. Though my attitude on it carries through to other armoured combat sports.

The first one you posted just comes across weird to me. And I also really wonder about pieces that have such a wide timeframe on the, 1410-1455? There was a HUGE change in armor in that time frame. Thats 45 years! Using the same resource there are just as many that show Back closing: http://armourin...

The breasplate also appears to be front closing. I am not 100% sure, but I think that examples show them to be back closing.
I think this one made by Jeff Wasson is more akin to a "correct" portrayal.

I like the idea of a followup class, depending on the length of the first you could do them back to back.
Anyone who wanted to get into specifics could stay for the second hour or something.

Re: Advice for fighters looking to improve their armor
Would this be a class appropriate to workgin in the proper usage of the term "Munitions Armor?"
I hate how the term "Munitions Grade" has become an excuse for crappy armor.
Guy 1 "That armor looks pretty beat up."
Guy 2 "yeah well it's Munitions Grade.

I would also work in there the phrase "It's alright to buy!" When I wear my armor, and soft kit around there is always this initial rush of excitement and a flurried "Thats fantastic! Did youmake that!" when I say "No, I don't have the skill to make something like this," I am often met with sort of ...

Please Ernst. It was easy to deduce what he was talking about. Your fake offense on the matter is uncalled for. Does mail offer some defence against rattan, yes some. I fought in a riveted flat ring shirt in a bear pit tourney once. I have a gambeson under, and all the required regid places per SCA ...
