Re: Brimmed Bascinet-Am I seeing this right?
I wonder if that brim was added to an old bascinet to make it look more like an early burg.

Re: There is too much leather armour in the SCA.
There is a very fine line.
There is a guy north of me who wears black leather "Lorica," and black leather pauldrons. To me no, he does not look anything different than a Mad Max extra.
And the profile of his loric is in such a way that is would be very easy to cover.

Re: There is too much leather armour in the SCA.
now THERE is the crux of it.
I have said it before and I will say it again. 90% of all the bad armr out there woudl be fixed with a *Nice* and appropriate covering.
But one has to take the time to do so.

Re: Any evidence of writing on Avential bands?
They are mostely seen on English well.
I am under the belief that becasue of the nauture of how ornately decorated they became they were more of a fashion accessory later on.
I may be wrong about that though.

If it were me running the Deed, no I would not accept a helmet with a stylized raven on the face of it. That blatently says "fantasy" to me.
A sugarloaf without a raven on it, perhaps a blackened cross or brass one, yes. That would be acceptable.

Yup.
It all depends wha the fashion of the area was.
Jupon is a rather clouded term which is used for a number of different garments.
