as late as 1348? I thought those were pretty much gone about 20 years prior.

What is going on in this Effigy?
http://armourinart.com/eb/media/cache/original/simon_de_pasquier_s115_r2050_large.jpg Dated 1348- What are the two shields for? One on the front and one on the back. Do we really think they wore something like that, or just a convention of the artist to have a place to show the arms of the decedant?

Re: Getting back after neck injury and time off
I know that Rudolph has a couple of very nice helmets. Specifically a kettle and a sallet. I bet either the aventail idea like what Dragonjohn said to support the weight on the shoulders on the kettle, or possibly some sort of set up with a bevor on the sallet would work.

Re: Lordly armour
That effigy is great actually. My breastplate is similar, and I have another helmet that is similar too!
So Galfrid, question: IF he dies in 1405 but the Effigy is 1420 the armor depicted, do we think that is from the time he died or from the time of the effigy or somewhere in between?

Re: Lordly armour
As you can see, my fauld is not really "triangular."

And I have a whole list of-
Aventail too long.
Not wearing appropriate arming cotte.
Not wearing my spaulders.
Need greaves.
Need sabatons.

I swear my keyboard at work hates me. Or is at least trying to make me look like an idiot. I really don't have the same typing problems on my home computer. Or else it's all a clever plan by your employer to make you not even WANT to log onto AA while at work ;) Wouldn't put it past the corporate b...

Re: 2013....Show us your kits --part Deux--
Actually had someone take my picture at practice the other night. 1: It needs to be polished. It has gotten a little rust. 2: The aventail is way to long. The helmet was my wedding present. I am thinking to be retiring it to the shelf soon. If I ever get my refurbed houndskull back from Jackie. 3: I...

Re: Lordly armour
Exactly.
If anything the breastplate I have is more of the regular fauld with the triangular crotch attachment... but typing "triangular fuald" is easier.

But why put a jupon on it, and then take the time to draw out the sperations on the faulds?

SCA Heraldry Question...amd I going to get in trouble?
I want to make a shield for my soon to be born son.
And I want to put my arms on it with a label for the first born son.
Is this somehting reserved for Royalty? Am I going to get in trouble or looked down on for it?
Thanks.
MJ

Re: Lordly armour
I guess the real questionwould be: Are they really depicting a "covered fauld" or is it supposed to be a jupon pulled tight over the fauld.

I found this too. Which I would classify as a covered triangular fauld. I may be wrong though.

While I wouldn't call it a hound skull there are some manuscript pictures of helmets that have not too different looking visors.

I did. I wear joined hose now. With compression shorts and a cup.
Cause I got tired of repairing my braies!
See, I just explained the evolution of joined hose in one fell swoop.
Make sure you cite me in your papers.

You are correct about the fauld. But, correct me if I am wrong, using your site there seems to be some instances of covering the breasplate part and leaving the fauld uncovered?

Hey guys, sheesh.. all i am saying is that repairing them may have been more prevelent.
I am not a clothing expert, all I am posting about is my own experiences.
But using your own example Mac we have lots of evidence of repaired armor.

Re: Avoiding the 'Diaper' Look
I have had mine taken apart and rebuilt each time. Some by professional seamtresses, When just wearing them they look great, and fit the profile of the artwork. As soon as I fight: riiiip. Now this is not to say that this wasn't the case in history too? I just can't afford to buy new braies every ti...

Re: Avoiding the 'Diaper' Look
Period-obsessive though I am, I would rather wear white spandex compression shorts under split hose and give the proper appearance that have white linen braies that aren't tailored correctly. I tend to agre with this. If only for the point that I have a pair of tailored braies that give the correct...

Yea, I have been doing light stretches every day which has been helling. I will make sure to streatch them before fighting again from now on though.
I need to spend extra time on my legs. I sit on my ass all day at work, and have noticed a real loss of muscle toning in them

I've been doing alright, it was really just a day where I was hobbling around. I have found that my calves are really tight when squatting though.
I should probably do some actualy squat excercises.

I am sure you have the same agreement with Brand. Because you are prudent like that. I only suggest that someone with Brands track record may not be living up to that part of the bargain. As for Jackie, I do not know what his backlog was like before he took on my work. All I know is that it has been...
