Looking for Spear for an 8th cen Scandanavian Rus.
If I were to buy a spear would you suggest:
1) Classic Viking spear head
2) Frankish Spear Head
3) Spear Head
From a useability, and then accurateness of period, standpoint?
I intend to throw this bugger & do a little cutting & whatnot.

Well. If it's considered part of the weapon, could you hook it & pull it out of the way? What i mean is, as my last war was 17 years ago, can it be done feasibly.

Everything went smooth and fine. 5 out of 5. I decided to get some more rattan and try some of the new rubber potato digger Mace Heads authorized by the SCA Society Earl Marshal. One of my concerns was how well they would grip the rattan. Well Duke Icefalcon shipped them shoved onto the rattan for e...

Use a mace. His Maj would find that a wholly appropriate solution! For He is a great fan of the Mace and does strike terror into his enemies when he takes the field with one. ----- @ Goderic:"If you where to add a "cross piece" to your blade as a replacement for a basket what would y...

No, and their reasoning is really sound (based upon too damn many flats winning victories) but I wish I was better at explaining it.
I remember hearing His Majesties speech at Purgatorio about it and thinking "Well that makes sense".

Viking
Trilobe
Tea Cosy
Norwegian Type 5
Cocked Hat
Got ideas?

Two further questions:
Which hilt is the best for an eastern Scandinavian in proto-Russia in the 8th-9th century?
The Norwegian Type 5 says its heavy. How heavy is 'heavy' and how hard would it be to grind it down a bit if it's too much?
