A little OT.
At one La Prova Dura (2005?) there was a large vid made of it & there is a moment about 3:02 in when Duke Radnor thrusts a guy in the helm and it's just... perfect.
I cannot seem to find the vid anymore. Does anyone know where to find it?

Fighting at the Barrier.
I've got some spare lumber lying around & I want to use it and bring 'Fighting at the Barrier' to my local HEMA group as a fun training tool. (and just plain fun thing) But I have 2 questions: #1) Where might I find a quick 'how-to' for this? #2) where is a good article which speaks to the histo...

Re: Riot Armour for SCA combat?
A local cop once borrowed a local knights helm, shield, and rattan sword for a riot.
His LT saw what was in the trunk, looked the Patrol Sgt in they eye and said " I didn't see it & I don't want to know".

Re: Opinions on a Strapped Shield hand being used....
There's a fighter out here (James Skalli) who uses a buckler on his left hand over a hockey glove while wielding a greatsword. He does it as he really likes the fit of the glove but got his hand broken using it when he missed a parry. That's why he uses the shield. It allows him to keep using the gl...

I live in the West and am familiar with the culture here. Truth is that I do not aim for the arm in mid flight because I have some sight issues that make me see 2 sword arms coming at me. I have a hard time figuring out which one is real, but I do feel that taking my opponents arm is an earned advan...

Where does 'cool' factor play in this?
In that, when it is done to you, you go "Wow that was Cool! Dunno if it was legal, but it was damn cool!'.

OK, I gotta say that all this 'bringing the back up weapon onto the field' is cool. It looks awesome and to see it used well is neat. Keep it up. Ohh, btw: "In chapter 58 of Eyrbyggja saga, Óspakr and Þórir were fighting. Þórir lunged at Óspakr with his knife, but Óspakr avoided the attack. Þór...

1st) Stances- Probably best that you go with Shield foot forward for now. It is an easier form on your body and easier to generate power with, which is important if you cannot cheat a shot using muscle alone. Sword- Sword back stance is probably best for the same reason mentioned above. Look here: D...
