@Allan: Are you attending the Carmichael Practices? Will you be at Golden Rivers Championship? I ask as I am in the Silver Desert which is just over Donner Pass from you and, if I am well enough, I will be in the area and perhaps going to GRC next weekend. I'd be willing to get you intouch with folk...

I cannot recommend this Jewish Cookbook enough.
Y'all GOT to get yourself a copy of this and try it out. I lost my original and got his reprint, and the reprint is even better. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61prh%2BevqBL._SS500_.jpg Jewish Traditions Cookbook. This is, next to my basic Betty Crocker, my fav cookbook, and has led me to sev...

OK. What about the books and DVD's sold via the Purpleheart Armoury website?
They seem to be good guys. Do they know about all this mishigas? If not, then they should.

One of the reasons I ask is that I have an old broadsword cross guard and that should help. I keep wondering if there was an organic crossguard that would have decayed over time or something similar. also, what would have prevented a warrior who saw the need of a better guard from adding one? @Halbr...

@Marco: 1st- I love your site, though it doesn't display well in Firefox, and I want to make a fencing helm like you do someday. 2nd- My balance is fine, after 11 years of heavy fighting, 3 years of low level studies in various arts, and 7 years of Tae Kwon Do I feel I do well. So yeah, any HEMA boo...

Rhomphaia Hand Guard Help Needed.
OK, I use a Rhomphaia in SCA combat sometimes and have gotten my hand & thumb smashed more than a few times. I have contemplated putting either a small crossguard or tsuba like leather piece at the base of the blade to protect my hand from the smashy badness. Do y'all have any opinions on this? ...

Truth is that I actually started studying Fiore 'cause I had no bastard sword game. Thanks to the school I have learn a whole new fun hobby, not as fun as Heavy fighting, but still very fun. "The Sword in Two Hands by Brian Price" review wan
I have a B&N gift card and I was thinking of picking up a copy of "Sword in Two Hands" by Brian Price. I own TOMAR and The Book of the Tournament, and I like both so I figure I should like this as well but... Has anyone read it? What did you think? On a side note: I was told today that...

My biggest question about the synthetic wasters is the nicer ones get very close to low end longswords in price (a purple heart armory for example runs 70ish min), are they really worth it when for $30 more I can get a CAS hanwai practical or other entry level longsword? True, and Therion Arms (an ...

Need opinion's on some HEMA Equipment.
So I'm looking at Revival's website and I see three things that I want opinions on so... I come here of course. It also makes you a touch more mobile (I know as mine laminate the other way, and I'm not terribly happy with that). Also I heard something about how the way the ribs naturally laminate and that the horseman style helps take advantage of that. There have been a few examples of them being done the ot...

Perf plate helm building question.
If I were to make a helm from scratch, or modify one that exists already, for use with Wasters, SCA Cut & Thrust, and rapier work which of the sheets found on this website would I use?
Just curious. I have folks sometimes ask me this same question and I do not know the answer myself.
