I used a XL head as well and found it to be a bit big for me. Jarl Rolf uses a med to lg I think and he has had great sucess. When I can I will go to the smaller one nd see how that goes.

On the up side, I have NEVER had a problem with the XL long hafted mace being counted.

One of the reasons I ask is that I have an old broadsword cross guard and that should help. Hold your Shield. Rotate it side to side. If you have exposed any parts of the hand to one inch below the wrist that a sword can strike you must cover them. Simple! I have seen folks use a half-gauntlet and a leather cuff around the hole of the center grip.and it seems to work well. -Ivan

If I were to make a helm from scratch, or modify one that exists already, for use with Wasters, SCA Cut & Thrust, and rapier work which of the sheets found on this website would I use?
