For what its worth...the term is CAST...not casted. When it does not rely on the fabric for its structural integrity,, it is plate. You can argue between definitions of coats of plates, brigandines, corrizones, or what have you if you like, but you cannot *remove* the definition of plate to encourage fuzzy-thinking. Sunflash, If I may make a suggestion....Consider making an elyptical cut-out along the center of the legs like this "" () "" so that it brings your thigh armour up closer to your upper leg....hugs your leg better in other words. Presently its a great harness thus far but your hip...

Although I do have several 16th century full suits in progress so go figure . If youre looking for a full suit, expect at least 2-3 months on...

I agree that the two layer looks better.

But I would be suprises if rolled edges were not done, especially in hotter climates....with that hot sun....mail....gambeson.....tunic....sweltering heat...

It could be a composite material or simply plastic heated on a piece of material that had that pattern....then smoothed on the other side.

I too have made 14 guage arms...with 12ga cops.

But for me, the weight is not so bad, given my size....and manly bulk *says dripping with cheesy testosterone grin* :P

However I do agree the weight of your arm harness does affect your fighting....very true.
