For what its worth, I use the Harbor Freight ones (100 bucks) and I can cut up to 13 gauge with it. You just have to adjust the blades a bit.

Its maybe not as elegant as a Bev, but for the money its a damn good buy.

Geesh...thats at least 2-3 grand of stuff !!!

If you figure the average piece there is worth at least 350 (anvils being usually at least 500-800) and youve got ...at least 10 items or so....do the math. Thats actually an undersell.

I think the question that keeps popping up in my mind is what exactly is the BOD trying to get rid of ?.... without actually trying to say it . The definitions of the SCA or rather its description, lead to, by virtue of its description, a narrowing of scope. ....duh. Conversely, if the SCA wants to ...

To do it successfully requires a significant investment in effort, education and gear Indeed, Jeff is right about this. Its not something you dive into expecting overnight results. You need to understand carving, mold making, casting and properties and limitations of molten was and molten metals.

Flat link or round is fine.

Its for an average bascinet though some extra length would be nice as Im pretty tall.

If you have one, shoot me the price, though I might also be willing to offer up some historical helmet cast trades, etc

Do you agree with the entirely open-ended "pre-17th century" description, without any "earlier" time frame and no geographical references? Well, first of all the name SCA is ridiculous....it implies everything.....knucke dragging cavemen to the US civil war. And if its a medieva...

800 would be a very good deal for that helmet; 600 would be highway robbery

Honestly its probably even closer to 900-1000. The detail work is what eats up substantial shop time....time being money. That helmet is at least 3-4 days if not a full work week to get those details nice.
