Fun with simple things.
Hand hewn white oak base with 3/8 " inset "wax catch"..once piece forged iron shaft...'clinkered' over to secure it.
An hour of fun for now (but I might sell them...I love candlesticks).
Enjoy

Gorgeous helmet! Ever since I saw his introductory thread Ive been thinking about making a similar helmet for myself to fight in. I love seeing early 15th century stuff...its been neglected for too long. And I love the visor. You could also do a version with the rounded/squashed nose....rather like ...

My experience is that HDPE doesn't really want to do what you want it to. It's quite difficult to mold once it's been cast into barrels. The only times I've gotten it to work I've had to get the platic pretty hot (hotter than Kydex, for example). And it still may want to revert to its previous shap...

Re: plastic boobs
I am making what kind of amounts to a barrel plastic corset for my daughter to fight in. I've got the plastic. I've got a heat gun. What's the easiest way to fit it without just laying the sheet on her and going to town with the gun? I'm thinking that wouldn't feel nice. Some advice Ingvarr. If the...

I would love to see some live tests done with all the variations of mail shown in artwork and alluded to in texts. The pros and cons of a type of experimental armour might, at the very least, give us a sense of what the artist was trying to draw. This reminds me a little bit of the issue of how aven...

SOUPCAN ATTACHMENT theories....
Theres been a lot of neat attempts at doing floating cops in the past few years. I suspect most attempts are probably correct given the variation in the late 13th and 14th century. My own designs, attempting to reflect cops with no apparent rivets along the edge, tend to use internal leather "t...

I might have been tempted to buy them for my spare suit if they weren't such a heavy gauge of steel. 16ga is much too heavy for greaves, IMO. Actually Josh there is some evidence for heavier pieces, especially if they are in harms way frequently. I held a 16th century fauld from Wade Allens collect...
