Cant someone etch a piece or latten edging....than go over it with an engraving point to sharpen up the lines? I mean, we know that 14th century pieces show evidence of chisel lines to sharpen up such areas as the occularia/sights and breathes.....so it doesnt seem out of question that an etched are...

My two cents. I have a circa 1400 cuirass. That cuirass is such that if I bend over too far, or too fast, sometimes it can push into my adams apple if looking down too hard also. Trammel does google pretty well if you can avoid the scribing tool Its got a pretty long lifespan....from Maciejowski images (and surely earlier) to the 19th century.
