You really need a picture with your arms hanging straight down rather then tucked up like a T-rex. Something looks a little 'off' in the proportions but there is nothing to compare it to. A full body shot including straight arms and head would be clearer. Sean I agree. Its either sitting too low or...

pics of medieval cooking gear: tripod, grill, zig-zag thing

Lets say I lived between 1200 and 1500....and Im on campaign. Im hungry, so we start cooking. Im a bit embarr...

Dont get me wrong...I do think patterns are helpful. And I dont want you all to think Im against them for newbies. The Jedi, Buddhist, transcendental logic here is that newbies understand that patterns and too much reliance on TOMAR studies (even though its useful) can also inhibit the mind from thi...

I am going to be making my late 16th century shoes partly because I just dont see anything that is historically accurate; for the exception of a great British maker, most everything else seems to be geared for the renn faires with modern soles, rubber etc..... I understand why, but I prefer historic...

Speaking for myself....Ill share most of my patterns. Only ones I keep to the business are those with respect to exact specs. But for general items, like cops, cuirasses etc...I have no problem. But, and this is the point I was trying to make.... You should not try to amass too many patterns at firs...

Any word how that finger gauntlet project is puttering along? Lol...did some more prototypes. We are trying to narrow it down to a combination between form, function and pricing. And on that note I saw a pair the other day (dont ask me to cite it yet as Id have to pull out the book and Im tired) I ...

Another point I feel is really important. Like all newbies I started off knowing nothing *Im still learning. I went the route of the sca armour until I saw this white harness that Mac made in the early 90s: http://www.lightlink.com/armory/bob.jpeg Seeing that suit in person, up close, fundamentally ...

Well, we could ask William Hurt if he would allow a link to the pattern section. Also ask Eric Dube if he would allow his videos to be linked up. I have been toying around with some videos also. Been talking to a camera crew about doing some videos on various armour forming and minutia. There really...

This is good for that... but then it comes down to one's search-fu. Stickied patterns wouldn't be too awful, either. Then they're there, and locked, and can generate ongoing discussion as new folks come on board. I certainly like patterns. They help me visualize 2d->3d. Eventually I won't need them...

If I may... Patterns will only take you so far. At some point, you begin to realize that a pattern is really just a rough sketch of what the piece will start off as. And with experience you realize that by adding a bit more here, little less there....the basic patterns you already see on the archive...

Welcome to the frying pan. Or should I say the fire. Well, I did sell armour years ago. Loads of breastplates, stuff like that. I took time off to frankly work on my skills and techniques. So Im sort of returning to armouring in a sense. For about 13 years I did mostly sci-fi/fantasy work. Some fil...

Would I be stoned if I said I like the term chain-mail? Your pharmacological penchants aside, it's misleading as maille, as you described is a net and isn't a chain (a series of links).
