Ansteorra ... Single elim ... each bout best 2 out of 3. Weapon of choice. 95% of the bouts are sword and shield.

This hobby isnt as expensive as Golf.

Clubs ... 1000 - 2500 depending on the brand per set
Clothes ... 150
Greens fees/Cart 30 bucks a round (at a cheap course).
5-10 bucks for balls at the driving range.

This SCA stuff is way less expensive than golf.

Should have made Warlord ... His grace Ulstead was attending. Next one he might be at is Castellan up in Oklahoma. Then we gotta wait until probably 30th year celebration in July (Also Crown Tournament). Im sure his grace would answer any questions you have.

the padded legs inthe pictures are what i created also ... instead of using padding ... i cut up some hose (yes garden hose) and used that as my padding ... my lady sewed it all up and it works great. My worst A Hot, sunny day. Crowd choice of weapons, Crowd could shout instructions to fighters "Dance on the spot" etc. We were a bunch of bloody performing monkeys. The worst was "run around the list field if you died"... All i could think of was ... "Stop! ... Hammer Time...

I believe traditionally the choices are reverse OP order. The least experienced fighter chooses his opponent.

i think the last time i played golf my brother paid for me and it was summer in Arizona ... so the fees drop drastically cause noone wants to play in the heat :)

The startup costs for armor etc are not the problem. Compare just flat out buying a whole rig from somewhere like Stonekeep Helm 250 Steel starter kit 320 rattan 20 Baldar basket hilt 40 Shield basket 30 Plywood Shield 30 Cup 5 Total: 695 And a pretty descent rig too. Lessons are fee Events are 20-3...

i wore the lacrosse goalie shorts for awhile ... they get pretty hot but its better than nothing. I think these hex pads look a lot better. Im gonna give it a shot :)

The BODs job in this situation is to look after SCA Inc. Not the members ... but the legal entity. And if the legal entity is threatened by a lawsuit its the BODs job to make sure the legal entity stays afloat.
