Nah ... Ansteorra is going to be on the same side with Trimaris this year ... so all the archers will be on Ronnin's side. :) Maybe give your kids some boffer weapons and have them suprise you ... maybe call light a lot.

Sounds like you have the jist of it. Shields vary in size according to their use but i would also like to suggest maybe using a short sword with a thrusting tip instead of the mace. Just an idea tho.

Thank you Sir Vitus for that answer. In my own singular case, the quest for KSCA is pretty much non-existant. I am 43 years old in a Kingdom, who unless its norms change wouldnt look at me a Knighting material due to age. I am 99% sure there has never been someone Knighted in my kingdom who was ove...

Once you have used the loaner for a few practices and determined that you really are interested in heavy fighting in the SCA. i highly recommend the following if you are serious about competeing. m They have a beginners suit ... all the metal pieces needed to compete in the SCA for 200 bucks. This a...

I didnt know the streak was that long. My first crown was the one out in Stephenville with Sir Aaron and Sir Miguel in the finals, Miguel won and became a Duke. :)

Just start out with a minimum sword .. swing it at 50% to start off ... dial up the swing until people call it a kill. In ansteorra people try to take it easy on new fighters until they get the hang of it. So I try to emulate that. I'll start off defensive and light and dial it up until they start t...

I don't think you're quite understanding, Caspar. There are many combattants who compete for Crowns who are highly skilled at this game. When they compete in Crown tournaments (or whatever tournament it may be that gets their full focus and attention) they bring their top game. This doesn't just me...

I have the opposite problem. I always call light shots when i probably shouldn't because i'm a new fighter and just learning. I would rather leave the field too soon than get a bad reputation. I worry about my calibration more on the practice field because I'm trying to get it "Right". In regards to...

Being a relatively new person in the SCA and to fighting I can see light fighting having their own peerage but I wouldnt go so far as to call them a Knight. That just strays too far from history.
