" I tried to do it in such a manner as to demonstrate to you that I wasnt accusing you of anything, I wasnt trying to personally offend you, or anything other than it didnt sound right that anyone carried a shield that was 120lbs either on their arm or around their neck." Lemme take some measurements. Shouldnt be too awful hard really. Like a foot long, 6 inches across, about 4 inches of pipe at 1.25" diameter would work. I'll drill the holes when I'd figure out the placements but the framework should be pretty simple. Is this something you'd be interested in doing? ...

I did clarify. There's no need...

Did ya miss the part where it said they carried them on a strap around their neck? Listen guys - I don't make this shit up. I just read it. JB No, I didnt. Doesnt change anything. 120lbs is still 120lbs. I'm not trying to bust your balls, I'm not saying you're making this up, just saying it doesnt ...

Spin it however you like. That's what it sounded like to me. As for expert, having dealt with and been around the SCA for 23 years gives me no perspective at all huh. Look, the thing that I dont like about the attitude you posted was that this guy is fighting presumably honorably with a weapon form ...

Ok, lift 120lbs. With one arm. In the middle of a fight where some one is trying to stab you.
I have a hard time believing that a shield weighed 120lbs, sorry. At least not one meant to be carried into battle.

I used a madu for quite a while. I dont think it was better per se than a shield, but it was a lot of fun. I tried the axe thing too and while fun, it wasnt as much fun. I never thought I could punch a real axe head hard enough into someone to really kill them so it just didnt seem right. I wholehea...

I padded the edges and when I got to the tip I extended them past the end of the rattan then filled up the space with foam. It flares out on the flat sides a bit but I didnt see how to get around that and still have the tip big enough. The weapon still doesnt look that bad though.

I dig how mine turned out. Not near as pretty as the by my hand version, but a close approximation. It was wild using that weapon again. I miss it from the old days. I cant wait to see how yours turns out Adam.

Yah, the blade came with it. It's a zip saw, not a rotary cutter. Like a small jigsaw thats adjustable speed and cool as hell.

Bedlam's armor was the reason I got serious and made my armor right. He showed up to an event looking like he stepped out of a time machine kicking ass. I loved it.
These arms are beautiful. Absolutely.

When I cut leather I use my black and decker zip saw with the funkiest blade I ever saw. I still havent found our digital camera and of course the black and decker site has no pictures available. But this saw blade cuts sole leather better than my jigsaw and it's faster than I want it to be. Amazing...

Hiya Cat. When I make a gorget I get sole leather from Tandy's, with the business discount. It rocks. I cut the pieces out in a pattern based on the 'spanish collar' gorget. I soak the pieces in room temp water for a few hours then shape them. There's no real dishing to this pattern but you gotta fo...
