"If your intent with your first post was to actually help me out, then I appreciate it. I would point out though that I had already stated that I knew the percieved and real value difference between butted maille and riveted maille so I really didn't need to be told again. At the risk of insulting you, or Cat, which it's not my intent to do so, lemme see if I can make this clear. Yah, making mail takes skill. I made a ton of it in my day, all butted, I fought in it, I've repaired it. It's not the skillof the armorer as much as the comparison between butted and rivette...

Back when chain mail was heavy because no one could make the rivetted stuff, weaving butted mail was worth something because no one wanted to do it themselves. So they'd pay for it. But with the rivetted mail everywhere you look the butted stuff just doesnt make sense. Why wear all that weight and h...

Stacy when I go to a workout or an event, one day thing or major war, I start hitting people with reasonable blows. The ones that take reasonable blows go home sore, maybe a bruise here or there depending on their armor. No worries, right? The ones that feel the need to up their calibration for what...

Stacy I am not gonna debate the good sense of each and every person that puts on armor and goes out to fight. I'm not gonna say how many stupid things I've seen people do while fighting. I am gonna go fight my fight and give them what they ask for. People that have fought me have without fail found ...

I'm done arguing with people at wars. They're either gonna take what you hit them with or they need hit harder. Either way, no problem. I figure as long as I'm personally in control I can hit them as hard as they want me to with a clear conscience. If that ends up with them broken, well, they asked ...

Batu and Tarkhan both got them, I can think of at least 5 others that did at the war. So you never know. ...

Range is about awareness first. learn when you can touch something and when you cant. It's not as automatic as you might think it is.
Range is also about commitment. If you commit to your fight you work in YOUR range while your opponent has to contend with that. Initiative counts for a lot.

The best advice is to take your time and pay attention to the details. Dont rush stuff, you'd be surprised at how well you do.

That's bullshit. You didnt do wrong. Some people just dont like to lose so they whine. Did you strike legal target areas? Were you engaged by their rules? If so, then tell them to fight harder and whine less.

If you dont need complex curves and such and you have the dressmakers dummy, I suggest you soak the leather thoroughly then drap it over the dummy. Then I would suggest you saran wrap it tightly to the dummy and let it dry to shape. I would also suggest you bevel the edges, as this not only gives it...

Pain teaches. This is Tarkhan's leg. He wears a bit more than minimum, in fact a fine coat of lamellar that extends to his knees.
Dont let the bruises fool you though. He's a killer. Everyone gets tagged once in a while
