Yah, that's noble plastics lamellar. I made it for him. Mostly if you see that type of lamellar on a Tuchuk I made it. A few of the guys made their own suits but that's been my thing lately. Funny too, the plate that he had was originally mine years ago. It looked better on him though.

Thanks! Glad you like it. One of my dog-brothers had the plates made for me with a computer guided plasma something or other. They were made according to the T Bob essay on lamellar. I laced it like a suit of Mongol heavy cavalry armor. I dig it :)

it's funny reading this. i wear more armor now than I ever did before in my life and I never hear that. Armor is cool. If you wanna wear it, wear it. If people have issues then it's their problem, ya know?

I lace the body section of mine fairly tight. It's not like I move very much anyway.
But the arms and legs I lace so they can overlap on each other if need be. They work real well and allow total freedom of motion for me.

Better a cheat win a bout or even a Crown, than judging others blows becomes our common practice. Everyone misses blows: a few do it intentionally but those who do will not be changed by words when heavy blows haven't served. I disagree. In the past I have sat down with a couple of our guys in fron...

Just as a general comment I'll say that pretty much as long as there has been skin people have been tattooing it. Some cultures made a lot bigger deal of it than others, but it was found in a lot of places.

I've walked away from people because no matter how hard or clean I hit them they just wouldnt die. There are people now I wont fight with because I know it would escalate until I injured them and that's not the point of this game, I dont think.

There's the letter of the law, and the spirit of the law, so to speak. Saying you cant judge someone because you arent feeling what they're feeling is just saying you cant judge me because you arent feeling what I'm feeling. I say again, you can tell, especially if you're throwing the blow. If I'm f...

Yah, those are great words. You hear people say stuff like that all the time. Yet people still cheat. It's been said you cant accuse someone of cheating because you arent feeling what they're feeling. Sometimes that might be the case. We've all had shots come in funny that probably looked great to a...

I dunno how to strap a shield, I use a center boss. But I do know that if the shield is strapped wrong its all kinds of uncomfortable. I'd think that would be more of a consideration than weight.

Any time you swing your sword you're training your muscles. You're developing your muscles for a specific activity. It's been shown that form follows function. So if you're hitting a pell or a human you're still training your muscles. Now a pell cant train your reactions. You need humans for that. B...

Vitus you can go two ways here. You can hit people with sticks and win a game, or you can train in the old ways and keep that alive. Tradition and winning arent mutually exclusive though. I do my best to use proper technique and I win a few here and there. Stick fighting is like wearing sport armor....

Hiya Alfred. If what you're doing is working for you then you arent doing anything wrong. The distinction I make is that from what I've seen SCA fighters are trained to be stick fighters by generations of stick fighters. Thats the game. Nothing wrong with that. But I was trained with blades where cu...

I was taught that the sword was to be grasped by the pinky and ring fingers and the rest of them were to fall into place but not really grip the sword. This enables me to cut from the sky to the ground comfortably without jamming my elbow. It also facilitates the power flow from the triceps all the ...

Mord, they really arent greaves. They're the tops of Mongol boots. I couldnt for the life of me figure out how to do the foot part with the pointed toes so I said screw it and made the top parts. No worries mate. I figured I'd ask before I assumed anything. Some of the wenches wear hash marks indicating how many wars they[ve been to. For the wenches it's a mark of pride when they last. Also, some SCA people make all sorts of assumptions about our wenches and act according to those instead of...

I cut out a trapezoidal shaped piece of supple leather. I punched holes around the edges to be laced to the front and back, and to lace the upper arms to. Then I cut out the neck hole and assembled it. Comfort, the shoulders dont sag and it's all held together. Works for me.
