Funny thing happened at Baron Wars

I finally got to fight again! It had been since estrella so I really needed to hit people, ya know? Anyway, I fought about half the fights and had a blast. (Dont tell my surgeon, he hasnt officially cleared me yet) but it was a hoot, all was well. Then, the wenches wanted to go shopping. No worries....

Yeah Kelly it does 'hunt'. Here's why: "Sorry animal, but that dog dont hunt...If we allowed grappling in large meeles there would be a good % of people who get serious joint injuries...." Ok,think for a second. The cannon goes off and all of a sudden people all drop their weapons and star...

Wow. We grapple all the time and it leads to no significant number of injuries. Dunno what you're afraid of. How much training do you give "dogs" (I think that is the right term) before letting them free spar in melee? I think that may have something to do with it, and the degree of trust...

I'm not gonna make any comments on that mate. No sense stirring that pot. To be honest, I dont want the tournament to suffer for my immaturity so I'll just exhort you all to come out and fight, donate, spectate, donate, bid early and often, donate, cheer the fighters, and donate. All for the boobies!

Charity Tourney Clarification

It has been brought to my attention that the mention of "grappling" apparently has caused some distress. So. . . in the interest of ensuring the tourney takes place I will stipulate for all who read that there will be NO GRAPPLING . The mere mention of the G-WORD will cauuse your immediate...

I'd be interested to know what a set of just plain plastic thighs and knees for hidden armor would run. I got guys that dig thigh armor and are looking for hidden stuff. The leather covering is beautiful, especially the blue. But as one already pointed out, if its covered it wouldnt be seen anyway.

Gunthar I agree with you that after a period of time you know what's up. I also am of the opinion that if someone wants me to hit them harder all they gotta do is tell me. And if I hit them harder and harder and they still dont take the shot, well, I figure they can reflect on the error of their way...

Ya know, there's a fantasy then there's a reality. The fantasy is some perfect victorian ideal of chivalry that some of you will slit your wrists before you give up. It is spring, and the thoughts of young men turn to boobies! Last year at pennsic the charity tournament got rained out. Big surprise. The friggin animals were lining up in twos. But this year is gonna be better. I hope so anyway. Anyhow, all the cool stuff people sent and donated and worked very ha...

I figure if you bring it to a fight you're willing to lose it. Hit the arm. That'll teach them not to hang it out there and bring their game up a notch. Or, it wont and you'll just be hitting their arm. Either way, you win. Hit the arm.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint), however, the SCA has never been about historical accuracy, as far as the heavy fighting goes. It does not encourage historical accuracy; it encourages winning. Why? Because it got started as a competition and has been treated as such ever...
