Wow Louis, great minds apparently do think alike! This is long, be patient. A few years ago I was tattooing in a shop in DC where one day I had to tattoo a person of questionable gender. Beehive wig with a chinstrap, add-a-booty, spandex hooker dress, the works. ID said male. Anyhow, one of my regul...

if you say so. Personally, if I want nice even color I use dye, not wax. Just seems to make sense to me. If I want to add weight to armor, make it subject to additional heat and deforming I'll most certainly use wax. But if I want lighter armor, harder armor and armor that will not deform in august ...

Gotta disagree with you Vitus. I cant call your sword flat if you're hitting me at anything resembling speed. The eye just doesnt work that way with motion. My hands are moving way too fast for you to follow the blow in the kind of detail you'd need to register the position of a piece of tape or my ...

Something I'd like to point out is that I've never had problems with a group of people, whether they be kingdom, clan, household, guard, whatever. Only individuals have I ever had problems with. Now, I havent fought all over the world or anything and I dont pretend to have any more of an overview th...

I've seen cheating in this game. I've seen defensive holds called, I've seen shield walls magically repair themselves during holds, I've seen people shrug blows that knocked them down. To say that no one in this game cheats is blatantly stupid. If you wanna compare that to calling someone a liar tha...

When he found out we were moving to Michigan, I got a message from Sarnac with his numbers, his address, and instructions to call him if we needed ANYthing. This was before I ever got to meet him face to face or shake his hand. I'm grateful I got to do that and be his friend for a while. Tuchux vs S...

I fight in a pair of Mongolian Gutul that I got from Puppy at pennsic last year. They're the real thing and surprising they work great inside and out. They're stiff enough to take the sting off a shin shot too but I think to be safe I'm gonna put some soccer shins on them between the boots and felt ...

As for the helmet, save your beans, get a good one. Your head is worth it. The fact is this isnt a cheap hobby regardless o...

Kendo is a game. Fighting in armor with rattan is also a game. But a different game. Kendo armor is a modern version of medieval armor meant to protect you against shinai. The nature of the game we're playing here is not to recreate kendo, but to recreate fighting with real weapons. You can make rat...

Um, no. I agree that kneeling is stupid and hopping is even worse, but ankle weights arent the answer. Personally I take legs as 'kills' mostly because a traumatic wound like that, I figure if it were a shot that would send me to my knees I wouldnt be in any shape to fight afterwards. i heard someon...

What hammer do you dish metal with?
When Uilleag taught me to dish leather he used these awesome Japanese hammers that were balls so I went with a ball pien hammer. Worked like crazy, but now that I'm moving on to steel I was curious as to maybe a better option. Can y'all maybe post a picture of the hammers you like to dish with pleas...

I've had SCA wenches walk right past me with water rather than give it to me too many times to rely on that to stay hydrated. Our waterbearers are reknowned for their efficiency but with the BP meds I take I HAVE to stay hydrated. I found that out the hard way this past pennsic with an ambulance rid...
