I wear big pants in the Mongol style that also conceal knee armor, Mongol boots, a silk shirt and a Del under my armor. It's an approximation of what Mongols wore in the period I'm most interested in.

Most kind. it's also due to the time Puppy took with me going over some particulars to Gers that is enabling me to redo mine and make it tons better. I cant say enough g...

So, I wore them to fight in yesterday. I was amazed at how copmfy and supportive they were, as well as protective in the one instance where a shot clipped me on the calf.
I gotta say, fighting head to toe in nothing modern* was a rush.

What is it like if you just wanna fight? I've never seen steel fighting that looked that cool before. I'd like to try that part. I'm not sure the rest of it is something I'd be any good at, but the fighting part sure looks cool.

Does it have to be leather? If not, talk to WMA about his lamellar. Looks like the same shape, and no wax problems to worry about. I've seen the stuff up close and if it were the righ portrayal for me I'd be in a suit of it. It's tits.

As far as I know they're 'legal', but the thing I like best about the ones I use are the simplicity. They arent bulky, they dont ever bind like I'd be afraid those would. That's my only real misgiving about them.
Asthetically they are gorgeous. The way you made them are just beautiful.

If you wanna make bazubands that work a little better you're gonna have to dish that elbow a lot deeper. When I make them out of leather I cut a v out and stitch them shut before I dish them in the form. This makes a nice bowl that covers the entire elbow, no 'wings' needed. I'm not putting yours do...

Clean out your dishing form real thoroughly and if need be, line it with some thinner leather before you shape your final pieces. Should work ok.

Not only a time period thing, but a culture specific thing would rock too. I for one would love to see all the mongols taking on all the teutonic knights or something. Celts vs romans, that would be great!

Alfred I think it's because you and I view fighting entirely different. If I leg someone and step in with a kick it's not just to kick them. It's to put them off balance and distract their defense so I can kill them. If someone gets inside me I'll punch them. Not just because I can, but to gain room...

None whatsoever.
We make our shields pretty much like y'all do so we can use them at events like pennsic. We dont have problems from punches, grappling, kicks, shield punches, whatever. It's nowhere near as scary as a lot of SCA people would like you to think.

In our combat we punch with shields. With the edges and the faces, either way. In fact at one of our events I broke a one inch oak dowel rod I was using as a handle on a center boss round shield by punching Tamock in the face with the boss. He got up laughing, no harm done. We dont count shield punc...
