I hear you Hubert and that is reasonable to say. What struck me though is that no matter the reason for the problem, visible or otherwise, it seems to me that once earned the respect should be given. If you're some douchebag that showed up from time to time and never really did anything that's one t...

The problem I have is that when SCA brothers-in-arms who have not lived the knock-down, drag-out hell-bent punk rock life I have start giving me crap about not fighting at certain events. Well, sometimes I CAN"T MOVE WITHOUT WINCING. It pisses me off. They are nerds and desk monkeys. I have lived h...

Look around you at what you have. What you've accomplished for yourself and for others. This is what that costs. Whenever my back hurts or some young dog beats me that never woulda touched me before the operation I had, I get frustrated but then I have to look at what this pain has bought me. The lo...

It's not about not liking people. I tend to like most of the people I fight with too. And the last thing I'd wanna do is injure them. I'm not talking about rapiers and foils, I mean a saber. Cutting and some thrusting. The edge would have to be dull obviously but I'd still have to be able to hit peo...

All kidding aside, the observation I've made over and over again about SCA fencing is that they go out of their way to AVOID hitting each other. I'm totally hooked on the impact of rattan fighting. Personally I'd LOVE to fight with steel swords again but I dont see any fun in limiting targets or pul...

One of the coolest things about my armor is the movement I get in it. I dont know absolutely about the overlap up/overlap down argument. I think lamellar looks better overlapping upwards and my shoulders literally fold up on themselves they're so fluid and mobile. As for swords glancing one way or a...

Something to keep in mind about the overlap is that if you run them all the same way they'll weave. I overlap mine left right left from top to bottom as this prevents the plates from one row to weave in with the plates above them, reducing mobility. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v95/ratangei/ec4...

I wonder how many knights are gonna array themselves in their finest historical armor for this. I also wonder if they're gonna fight with traditional 'knightly' weapons. It's not my personal thing but the pictures from that battle of the thirty where they look so goddam real its amazing just floor m...
