Holy Macaroli!! These swords are BEAUTIFUL!! Excellent work. There is a WMA group who uses foam swords like these but I can't remember the name of the group! They even had a construction page on how to make foam swords. I'd MUCH rather get one of these to use for something like that. Very nicely don...

I would like to see more pics too! Especially ones taken by folks who've been to see the effigy. I've seen everything I can find on the internet, and most of the books I've found with pics of the effigy are the same pics available on the internet. You all are warming my heart with your desire to rec...

Robert.......I've been riding an emotional roller coaster every autumn for the last three years. I've sold more kits in those three years than most folks have bought over 10 or twenty years. Some of it is due to seasonal depression, but mostly it was due to something said on here, or some topic that...

In regards the puttees......are you looking for "winningas" to do a Viking or Anglo Saxon impression?? For those of you looking to trade Russ there have been several threads (one posted a link to a "how-to" site) here in the AA about this very subject. I imagine a search of the archived threads may ...

Those look awesome. The black does indeed look pretty cool with the brass. I especially like the coppergate style helm. A mini review follows. I bought some welded knee and elbow cops from windrose in the spring. I love 'em! Very pretty pieces, outstanding workmanship, fast response, and a pleasure ...

I know the man personally. Been up to visit him and his shop. He makes some really nice stuff but a bit pricey. He had a Norman era nasal helm I drooled ALL over the day I visited. Although he's not a sword maker he also had a pattern welded Norse Sword my son fell in love with. He used to be primar...

The article on Amalfi in the posted link says the paper mills of Amalfi were founded in the 12th C copying paper making methods learned from the Moors. It also says people came to Amalfi for the paper from all over Europe, so I'd say although Vellum might have been more common in the 13th and 14thC ...

In Regards to Black Shield Armoury (a crosspost)
I need to retract the earlier statement about Black Shield Armoury. The proprietor didn't just flake out, he got deployed overseas which is a BIG difference. Deployment can cause sacrifices to be made. Sometimes in a big way. And a deployment can happen with very little notice. If I were in his situ...

I thought that name sounded familiar. Yeah. I've dealt with him and it was BAD news. I sent him, like 40 bux for spaulders I never got, and never got my money back. I still haven't seen either and it's been, like, two or three years. He just disappeared, his website went down and his contact info we...
