I was watching "Mail Call" last night. There was a segment on the Golden Knights Army skydiving team. I noticed they were wearing these leather skull caps with strips of padding. They looked like the ribs of padding would equal out to be 1/2" and spaced out in just the correct spots to use for paddi...

I bought a quillion and pommel set from him a couple years ago. About a year ago I sold it like an idiot. When I noticed the fella I sold it to, in turn had it up for sale, I bought it back. They're THAT nice! I had no problems with contacting Anshelm with my original purchase of the set, and he had...

I have a new sugarloaf coming. The top is very Bascinet-like....ie nice and round. I'm lookin' at padding options. I don't really want to go the foam route and was thinking of making a padded coif in a more period fashion. Am I going to have mashall probelms??? Any of you who play in the SCA context...

I've spoken with Jay at Pacific Yew via email a couple of times. He will make a bow for you in the medieval style if you want him too. His bows are already pretty darned close to a period longbow design. He would just need to make it from a one piece stave, and leave out the center grip. Better yet....

The West is actually doing a mounted boffer game. I'm not sure of the name but it's something like "smack the crest" or something. The goal is to knock your opponents crest off his helmet with a boffer sword whilst riding a horse. (both of you are horseback) As this helm is setup to have a crest att...

I make both period arrows and modern arrows and I've studied archery, and fletching quite a bit. Period arrows were self nocked (ie the nock cut directly into the shaft instead of glued on, reinforced with a horn or wood insert, and shaped) with the fletches being both glued and thread wrapped. I do...

(SCA) Target archery in gear
In the IKAC there are two divisions....Open and Traditional. In the Traditional class one must use self nocked arrows, and bows with no arrow shelf or sights of any kind. So here's my idea.....a "Combat Gear" shoot. I'm not talking an IKCAC where combat archers shoot at the plywood man, I'm talking ...
