Wanted: Bascinet

I'm looking for a bascinet with a center pivot removable bar grille. I'm looking to trade or buy. I have one like this but it's just a tad too small. I would trade the helm I have. If yours is a bit higher end I'll throw in a stainless gorget made by Dragon Forge and a set of splinted arms made by m...

This isn't the right shape for 13th C. More like LATE 14th C. This looks more like a hand and a half sword, or Bastard sword, or Long Sword, or Riding sword etc of the late 14th and into the 15th C to me. It also looks to be in too good a shape even with the rust. The rust hasn't eaten into the meta...

Pembridge Great Helm. And it looks like it was made by Boldo. Used to have one made by him. This type helm was used well into the second half of the 14th C.

Some thoughts on servitude (off-shoot of Sarnac's authentici

In the Stephen Baker essay that Sarnac posted Baker mentions that for true authenticity there should be lots of servants/retainers hovering around the "nobility" and nobody wants to play being a servant. He's right, but why? I suspect attitude is at the heart of it and this got me comparing present ...

Cased greaves are greaves that have wrap plates that wrap around the back of the leg thus fully protecting the leg. Gutter greaves cover only the shin leaving the back part of the leg exposed. They look kind of like rain gutters thus "gutter" greaves.
