As promised. First pic is Battle of Crecy. This was done in the 1400's and reflects the armour of THAT period rather than the actual battle time period. Notice the brigandine body armor of the archers and the sallet-like helms. http://www.bnf.fr/enluminures/images/jpeg/i3_0022.jpg Next is Retained a...

p'raps you're thinking of Crecy (1346) or Poitiers (1356) instead of Agincourt. Agincourt was actually later in period having been fought in 1415. I guess it's a matter of perception though. To me anything later than 1370 or 80 is getting quite late in period. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/biggri...

True Dalloch! I'm not only in the states, but I live in one of the emptiest ones...Nevada. Not unusual to drive 5 hours to get to a town. An hour's drive to get ANYWHERE is not uncommon. And there's not much in between. To me even 200 miles away is close http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/biggrin.gif ...

My favorite is the armour on the effigy of the black prince. Second is the Corazinna kit that the Met has. I'd like to recreate either one (or both!!) of them. I'm not a fan of much 15th C armour. It started getting more complex than I like with all the fluting that came about. I like the nice clean...

A question about a later period

Some of you do LH of later periods ie ACW, WWII, 18th C colonial etc. Others of you know folks who do. Do any of you or your friends have URL's to reenactor sites and resources dealing with the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879? I'm really interested in this time period and would like to find some groups out t...

Two words about cloth foundations and rivets. Roofing Nails. I'm using copper roofing nails. 1) The head is big enough that a washer is not really required to keep from tearing through the fabric. 2) The point on the end of the shaft seperates the weave as T Bob mentioned and doesn't sever the threa...

Corazinna construction question

For those of you who have made them I have a question about the fabric covering. Did you make the fabric cover to JUST fit each plate or did you make it so it overlapped each plate by a fraction of an inch or so all around?? I'll be putting one together very soon and have been wondering about this. ...

In the military this is called an "after action review" which results in an "after action report". Really good idea too! I applied it to the scout troop I helped with to improve our camping skills and it worked great.

If you're looking for a true Brigandine you can't go wrong with either Sinric's or Chef's pattern. They are sticklers for historical accuracy. You'd have a brig just like the real thing.

There is an account of a Norman being pinned to his horse by arrows shot from a Welsh Longbow. I don't know the primary source but it's mentioned in Hardy's "Longbow a Social and Military History". The Norman was wearing maille leg protection and was shot in the thigh. The arrow penetrated maille, p...
