I've been using copper roofing nails. For armour with a cloth foundation they work REALLY well. First off the bigger and brown head looks really nice. Second, you can push the pointy end through your fabric without ripping any of the weave out. It seperates the weave rather than tearing through it. ...

I agree with trevor about the helm. What you're putting together would fit from the 1350's to the 1450's depending on the helm you put together with it. I think a pig nosed bas or globose/clappvisor type bas would look really nice with what you're putting together. A Corazinna for body armour would ...

side saddles

I am edward's daughter. I have been looking into doing some riding at events and in some local parades. I was wondering when side saddles were first used. My dad and I are going to be doing garb from the early 1300's and I want to do everything correctly, down to the type of riding style. Thanks for...

Speaking of gloves........

Anybody have a source for good gloves? I'm not so much looking for heavy work gloves as I am the thinner, softer and tighter fitting kid-type gloves. Sort of like leather flight gloves.

Will these coupled with vambraces and coutiers meet SCA minimums for limb protection? What a COOL looking kit these would be over maille. Add a mispronounski style great helm and a carved breastplate and you'd have an awesome looking kit!
