I tend to do the cutting at the start. The prentice gets to do the de-burring and plate prep. I teach him to be a striker with the big raw-hide faced sledge and also the gross dishing and shaping stuff with the mid sized hammers. The longer he stays the finer the hammers and the closer to "finishing...

there are a host of subtle and delicate adjustments that you could learn to make.... But there are also times when the best thing to do is to clamp one straight edge in the vise and twist like buggery (possibly with a padded-out set of vice-grips for leverage) on the other until it lines up. The bit...

Yep. They are dished in one direction and then shaped on a raising chisel (that is also how you get the stepping) to achieve the counter-forming. Practice on some scrap before just trying it. This is the technique of the small dainty blows from a small shaped and polished hammer. This will tend to w...

Need some picture help
Hi folks. I am chasing after a couple of things. the first is a nice (idealy) circular knotwork representation of a dragon (maybe Fafnir) gaurding his hoard. All the runestones of sigurd I have seen show a very splayed out representation and I need something more compact. A non period drawing in a p...

Half.com absolutely and utterly do NOT ship to Australia. This was okay when I had Meesh to smuggle books into the country for me...but is a trifle less conveniant now. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif Half.com do have a good 48 hour turnaround though, so you may be able to have the books ...

Looking for a fancy nasal
Hi Guys Yes I know I should just make one myself...but I am now so overbooked before easter that there is just no hope of me making this thing. I am looking for a fancy stamped (or possibly cast) bronze nasal (and or ocular) with nifty norse designs in the vague style of sutton hoo. I know Ramond is...

Prussaking cord. For all your lanyard, point and lammelar needs. The outside sheath is just like Lucette linen and the core is invisible to all the world. This stuff does not die. Do not buy the rainbow fluro colours. It comes in plain brown and plain black. Available at climbing stores amongst the ...

Arc. I can build you the ultimate armour and the Masume Sword as well! It will only be visible to and effective on pixelated opponents, though. On the bright side, it is so light weight it will totally remove the need for training or anything. It will feel like your not wearing it at all! Sasha Wars...

In this case... Size does not matter, it is all about endurance and control. http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/smile.gif Endurance = duty cycle. Get the best duty cycle you can get for your dollars. Control = Adjustment range and charecteristics. Does it have a fine control knob. Can you adjust volta...

The problem is that you are using materials that are quite thin and maleable. They find it easier to stretch then cut. Try adjusting the blades a bit closer. Also try to get the down cut of the blade to start before the twist of the material. Frankly...I tend to use the aviation snips on thin materi...

You left out one existing requirement. "must have a consort" This means that the prospective king needs to have inspired some good women (or at least have bamboozled some easily led one) into signing on for serious service. This weeds out a few potentials right there. I am sure it is possible to jus...

I just priced type 301 at the only place that stocks it ont his side of the country.... I was very optimistic with my quote of $6000 for materials for one armour. I might have meant US dollars...that would about do it. 1.35mm is sold at $575 per square foot! It would be cheaper to buy a small orphan...
