My take on the SCA is, if knights used it in tournaments we can use it in tournaments. If knights used it in wars, we can use it if we belong to the camp that believes SCA 'wars' are not just large melees. As far as I know, medieval knights did not use bows, boomerangs, slings or those Xena warrior ...

As far as a proposal to ban CA, is has been suggested. I suspect that if you polled all heavy weapons authorized fighters who are also SCA members worldwide, the bulk would vote to ban CA rather than keep it.
