Sorry, I should have clarified. I was in a hurry when I replied. The part I don't like is the using of a butt spike and being able to hit with the cross guard on great swords. In melee I just see this causing nothing but issues and complaints. People have a hard enough time recognizing some shots a...

Cool. Is that spring, mild or stainless? How big is the occularium in height? Does it pivot open with a safety catch of some kind?

What is the circumference of your head at the brow in inches, I'm wondering if it would fit me or one of the MSR jousting types.

Worst idea ever. It would cause nothing but issues in battle. Seriously, why do you feel that way (unless you mean using double axe heads as quillons, in which case I agree with you)? Being able to hold your own sword blade has strong historical precedence. From a safety point of view, it is in man...

Only $50 for the vamplate? That is a deal! Is this still going to be spring steel? Do you have a diameter yet?

I'd like to get one very soon, next month or so if possible.

I don't think shields ever went away, they were always the cheapest way to protect a low level soldier. There are some Italian paintings that show footsoldiers with shields, c1460-1490, and they do not appear to be pavises, either in form (large oval), or function. I'll try to remember to look for ...

OK. So I'm getting late 15th century German 'Gothic' Armour, think simplified Sigusmund style. For foot combat 1500 or later, there are plenty of woodcuts and other illustrations, in particular of Maximillian I using infantry shields on foot with a sword, but the armour is clearly circa 1500 or late...

This is my squire's Mac harness in spring steel, it appeared in today's Long Island NY Newsday in an article. Link below. The article has some errors, but they are on the part of the reporter, not my squire. It is based on the Warwick effigy, so may be of interest given the threads recently.
