Balance is overrated. As is excessive inclusivity, lack of logic, etc. Seriously? I make many more compromises than I wish to, partly due to budget, laziness and lack of time. That being said, if you pick early to mid chivalric era harness (Charlemagne's proto-knights the paladins up to end of the t...

Interestingly, Ken Trotman Ltd. has the book in its latest catalog, for only 75 pounds and no warning on a 40 euro shipping charge, so I'm guessing normal freight applies from Trotman. Looks like this is cheaper than buying it via Prunner even with my ARS discount. Not that I'm complaining, the book...

If you are going to do ankle weights, they should be proportionate to the total weight of the fighter. So we'd have to weigh everybody before the fight starts, to be fair... How about instead, if you get hit in the leg, you can still try to use it but only after we administer a shot of novacaine so ...

I like my Revival's, Steve. Another person here in Bryn Gwlad got a pair with the vibram soles which peeled off during fighter practice on concrete tennis courts. Basically, what they do is glue a thin Cat's paw type of vibram over the leather soles the boots come with anyway. I opted not to get th...

FYI- I've got the solid tips on the site now, just in case Richard or anyone else is interested, of course they aren't shouldered and will have a 1/16" step down from the ferrule. I'm confused. One of your prior posts indicated the hardwood tips would be shouldered and tapered, unlike the balsa tip...

Thanks to everyone who came out for this event. We had a great time hosting it this year. The bruises shall last for weeks, but the memories will last forever. I just wish I had known so many Archivers were going to be there. We could have had an impromptu Archive meeting and pestered Jeffrey the Y...

We can arrange an exchange whenever is convenient for you. Thanks again! I took a better look at these t...

SCA/MSR 100 Minutes War In Autumn
What a wonderful event. I love the 100 Minutes War the SCA does, so having the event saved and hosted by Acre offering its site on Long Island (not too far from where I live) to the SCA, made me really happy and made it easy for me to ge there. It was great to be fighting with a large number of qual...

Easy for you to say Mord. My squire has a full spring steel Mac harness in his hallway based on the Warwick Beauchamp effigy. And he does not wear it. Which makes me want to beat him to death on a semi-regular basis. But it does look great in the hallway. Well, my knight has a full garniture done b...

Murial, Konrad dropped off the chairs as promised. It turned out to be Sir Konrad from Bloodguard. So yes, I know him really well! The chairs are awesome. They are even nicer in person than in the pictures. A lot of people asked about them. They are very sturdy and the folding to a very small size i...

It is on Mac's site. At least it was for many years. It is the full plate harness with the unique channels in cuirass. And there is a picture of my squire showing off his arm tattoo which started off as his coat of arms (SCA), but he added the helm Mac made for the suit. Actually my squire is a very...

RB- Go to Home Depot to the dowel department, should be near the mouldings. Get a 1-1/4" dowel, they come 4' long out here. Cut it with a saw to 3' long. Put it in the lance ferrule. If either the ferrule or the dowel are wobbly, even a little, wrap a turn or two or masking tape on either the lance...

Oh my God what a wonderful book. It just arrived today. The photography is stunning and shows terrific detail. I love that a picture fills an entire page instead of being shrunken to fit text. As for the Left Coast, well, let's just say they play a very different game out here, and I'll never talk about "wristerly" Eastern Knights again! I don't go to events out here (which leads to a sigh of relief throughout the length and breadth of Caid, I'm sure) and am focusing purely on WMA now. W...

It's not going to add that much weight. A few dumbell curls should do the trick. Ah, good. I was referring to your comments: " I will also offer hardwood inserts which are tapered and shouldered. This will enable these lance bases to also be used for quintain, making them "dual purpose " and " have...

Mac attaches his chausses to a deerskin belt worn *over* the braies: the braies have a drawstring which he makes tight enough to hold them up long enough to position the belt over them. I have considered sharp tips, both in rubber for recreating the joust of war and in steel. I'm thinking about the weight of a full hardwood lance. I don't advocate counterweighting of any sort. Ah. Well, if the 2 piece full hardwood lance in poplar ends up being too tip heavy and you don't want to ...
