I wear these from Mac and have never gotten seriously hurt through them, even from blows that have necessitated having the gauntlets dissassembled and rebuilt. And you know what? The finger lames don't reach down to the rattan, or any of the other silly Marshallate nonsense made up by people who ju...

I was not planning to use the hardwood inserts for shattering, just for ring and quintain passes, etc. So $20 or even more seems fine. The group I have in mind might end up has three riders at a time currently, could end up with 4 and I was thinking 4 lances each, hence the discount question. For ba...

Re: How quickly?

Okay, the villagers are in a panic, cause the tyrants army has just been spotted riding over the hill. Your squire is away on an errand, though, and your lady faire is in bed with the sniffles, so you've nobody to help you. All alone (or at least with the minimum of assistance) how long does it usu...

Rhys is 100% right. Though we should add that in some areas and times where such friendly contests involved sharp non-rebated/non-saftey weapons, the armour chosen for such contests often was geared toward providing greater margins of safety than when rebated weapons were used or when thrusting was ...

I remember seeing a picture of a very familiar looking, but left handed German 1400's harness on horseback in one of my books. Complete with the lance rest on the left side of the breastplate and the sword strapped on the wrong side. Given that there is almost zero documentation for left handed figh...

The lance without the tip is only 94", that's 7 foot 10" long. If you remove the ferrule, it's only 90", only 7-1/2 feet. It'll fit under most ceilings, unless you're putting it on a riser or something. Between carpeting and other issues, my ceiling is really about 7' 10". Then the armor stand base...

Richard trust me I understand all this but you can't deny there is a large movement towards plate armor rules, which makes more since with the whole foot tourney theme of the SCA. I find a flaw in the standard used at Kingdom Crusades, for does not mail and a gambeson usually cover the armpit? What is the logic for this being a weaker point in the armor? Since the establishment of this rule efects a substancial part of the fighters in any given kingdom, I would propose that we handle it like any other weapon experiment. Now the prior East KEM Timothy of Arundale did make a marshal's interpretation public that the East's face thrusting rules were to be interpreted that thrusts to the side/top/back of a helm would not be illegal, but would not count as he declared those areas to be invulnerable to thrusts. There is a problem, though. You can change the acknowledgement standards, but not the allowed target areas. Limiting arrows to the face and armpits is a change in target areas. Requiring 3 shots to the torso before being sufficiently "injured" to be dead would be a change in acknowledgement standar...

Where the fat is staying though is the most annoying part. The belly area where the belly button is located and the love handles are the worst.
