I'm with Cillene at Dirk and Arrow. They made mine and I get so many compliments on it. Just absolutely fantastic work. Great customer service. They have a customer for life in me.

Patrick -

I think it was a great topic. I learned a lot about what to do, so I'm grateful you brought it up.

LOL!

There are more and more early personas all the time and it's really hard to find ways to historically garb ourselves. And not only do you have the SCA as possible customers but all the Legio's and many other groups.

Early Roman/Greek for both women's and men's. Especially interested in the Roman soldier breeches and fighting tunic.

This link shows information but not really how to make the dresses.

Thank you Markus. After reading this thread I've realized just how important it is to honor your opponent whether you know them or not.

Re: Rude Salutes

Gavin how would one know what might cause offense? As it goes with the discussion because the OP seemed offended by the shield banging. Maybe not offended rather questioning it. What if I placed my hilt to my heart and bowed my head? That way I'm not pointing or making a possible mistake in my salute?

Wow, I've learned a lot in this thread. How as a Roman I should salute and to make sure I let my opponent know that I do or do not have a thrusting tip.

Ah well never mind on that. I'll figure out how to make one or have someone make one.

Re: Rude Salutes

I see the guys around here in videos tap their helms with their sword.

I'm coming off a five year injury absence too. When I was practicing we did helm taps. I like the idea of a bow though. I think I will do that instead when I get back to practice.

My doc thinks it's hysterical. Some people (not my doc) get uncomfortable when you call them breasts or boobies. Chestical units made it easy for folks. :-)

LOL- that is true Ingvarr. I hadn't thought of that. It sounds like other options have been tried.

My helm is blued so I was told I have to be very careful at what other substances I put on it. Not sure if WD40 would affect it?

It's too bad their sizing doesn't take into consideration the different chestical units of women.

But I think I can make it work out.

Re: Etiquette on the war field

I'm not putting a sticker on it. No way. I'd go find someone to do one on one work or grab my beat up helm that I started with. In fact I'd probably be better off not using the fancy helm for wars at all. As far as the arm bands couldn't they be placed on your sword arm? Then your shield wouldn't be...

Re: Zoombang V SCA MIn Kidney Protection Data

Hey Guys - I thought I read somewhere about sizing issues? I can't find the thread now though. Was there a problem with the sizes being smaller or bigger than normal? Or that you need to go one size bigger? I see the sizing on their charts but wasn't sure what your actual experiences have been. If y...

Re: Etiquette on the war field

I don't want to be vain but I hate the thought of putting duct tape on purpose on my brand new helm. Sword scars are fine but purposely... yikes.

I like the arm band or arm string or arm something a lot.

Organized chaos makes sense! I was told that you put tape on your helm and that is how you tell the two sides. Is that correct?

Etiquette on the war field

so I've been watching tons of YouTube videos on tourneys and wars. While I'm still not convinced a war would be as fun as one on one it does look interesting. But I was curious about things I see. Like getting hit from behind. Is that acceptable? And it 'appears' like shield punching occurs but I th...

Hey guys- Windrose was recommended to me by one of our Knights to get my round shield and I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them?
