Thanks for both replies. I will get some polish and start working it.

Do you happen to know if one will work better (or even against) the bluing on the helm? I don't want to get weird spots on it if I can help it.

Roman Forum

Hey guys-

I am looking for the forum that was mainly focused on ancient Roman and Greece. There were a lot of SCA folks on that forum too, but I cannot find the link or remember the full name.

Thanks in advance,

My interpretation would be the guy in white is harnessing up the horse and it's a loose strap. There are some other vases I've seen on the Nova Roman sites that are very similar. I did a huge amount of research on horse gear when I was using my draft horse in the SCA. Never got around to the horned ...

All thanks go to the kick ass armorer. I told him what I wanted, and he did it perfect to my description. I clean it very regularly to keep the dust off it. So when you use the polish, you just brush it on and then wipe it off? I almost hate to start using it because it's going to get hammered.

That's good advice. It still makes me wonder about the original point of whether the 2" can get to the neck easier and what you would need to do to avoid it. I had to add an extra piece of leather on the bottom of the grill on my regular helm after getting it by a regular size pole.

It's a scary thought that there is more of a possibility the tip could get to the throat area easier because it's smaller. It'll be interesting to hear how the other guys weigh in on this.

I'd like to work with anyone on the Archive. I have greatly benefited from your knowledge.

Nissan - I know you say you are not a Knight but by all accounts you are revered by the others as a great fighter so I think you'd be someone to learn from.

helm care

Hey Guys - When I got my helm a couple of years back the armorer indicated I should 'finish' it off with some sort of bowling ball wax. Do you guys know anything about that? How much, how to use the wax? Here is the picture of the helm. http://inlinethumb18.webshots.com/46929/2084395660102561126S600...

I've found watching the videos over and over of the fighters has helped me. They seem to use the same stance, sword position etc. over and over. They have let me go what I thought was my full force but not gone back with theirs. I remember asking one did you go all out (because I thought we had real...

I should have said, 'trained with each of the top fighters'. No way did they go the full force they did with their Knight or other fighter counter parts. It seemed the other new fighters held the same opinion that I did, so I don't believe it's a unique feeling. Any fight will definitely give you so...

I read on this forum a long time ago that if you want to be a Knight to fight Knights. I like fighting everyone except new people (as a new person). It's hard to learn from them what I'm doing wrong (although you learn a lot about blocking so I guess it's not that bad). I've had the opportunity to f...

Sir Caius Livius Germanicus - he has always been a great mentor and a great example of the Order. Sir Tjorkill - is a fantastic teacher and very patient. And he looks and has an air like a King. There's something very special about him. Sir Tiernan - reminds me of what the Knights back then would ha...

Ragnaroc is the one I was thinking of. Somehow I thought that was SCA related though. EMP sounds really fun. Is there a lot of cross over? SCA players with EMP and vice versa?

Really? I was told you put the uninjured foot on top of the injured one and balance. Not just standing on one leg and balancing - which I think would be easier than one foot on the other and trying to balance.

It's not SCA legal. Although it looks very similar, it's not SCA fighting.

Where did the knee rule come from and why? I can't fight from my knees at all. So I just yield. Tried to do the put one foot on the other and balance and it just looked like I had to pee.

I misread the first post - I would pick death and include loss of limbs or extreme serious injuries. Indeed, it just looks stupid and does not simulate anything very well. The SCA game may not be the most accurate looking, but it would look so much better without the knee fighting. You hit my leg with a 'telling' blow? I'm dead/bested. There is a case for counted blows as well. Anything than the p...
