With the helmet sitting base flat on the table, it is 10.25" tall (the back point is slightly lower at around 10"). The face opening is 7.25" wide. And from base to brow the opening is 6.5". At the brow it's 8.75" to the back of the helm. And ear to ear it is 8.25" The ...

Re: Samick SKB 50 Korean bow

I'd read many reviews of it years ago. The only drawbacks are that it's not actually a Korean bow. It's sort of "koreanish" or Korean inspired. It's not a full reflex. It's actually more like a simple modern recurve without a defined riser. It comes with a grip that is evidently VERY hard ...

If it's for SCA combat, shafted ammo is limited to being used on 30# @ 28" draw bow. If it's tubular ammo, you can go upto 50# @ 28", but some kingdoms do not do the tubular ammo. A cheap recurve is the PSE Buckeye (discontinued. It now looks like the replaced it with something called the ...

Shoprat, Sean and Giacomo are not in crown. Sunniva is right, Giacomo was going to fight but injured himself and is out.
Shoprat, Sean and Joselyn should be there, but just to fight TOC and pick-ups.

I use 16 ga galvenized picture hanging wire (solid; not stranded obviously). Nip off a 3-4mm length, use beefy linesman pliers with a divit on jaw to crush in place. This is, of course, if you're not OCD about all of your rings having identical round headed rivets in place.

I don't have plans written-up. But some people seem to like my folding stand as a basic upper body and helmet stand. m This doesn't have a way to hang the legs, but a second crossbar can be set in place, to hang your legs from a kidney belt/weight belt. I like the stick idea, but on an english longbow, there shouldn't be a flat to the bow. They're sort of rounded capital D in cross-section. The belly is very rounded, the backs also are rounded but at a much larger circumference. If you have a bow with a flat back, then the sticks would definately d...

Another thought: you may not have the string the proper length. If you get a fistmele on it, it should be the right length. Fistmele: String the bow. Place your fist with thumb extended, braced against the belly of the bow. The string should be at or just beyond your extended thumb (~6.5-7"). I...

I agree with Maeryk that limb twist is the common culprit. Look down the length of the bow, like you would sighting in a rifle. The limbs should align perfectly. To help with this, you can take a silver sharpie or pen, and at the very center of the back of each nock, draw a centerline (like you're d...

The closest thing is the gutter type plates that appear on some English brasses in the first and second quarter of the 14th c, and German effigies in the second half of the 14th. One sort of questions the necessity of a chin strap when you have the aventail pointed or strapped to your armor.
