Show me one example where a Knight in history picked up a bow during warfare? Are we only supposed to be using weapons documented as being weilded by knights now? The diameter of the rattan is not just because of the grill dimensions. It has to do with impact on your body and durability/whippyness of the rattan. Some people prefer not to use the minimum 1.25" piece of rattan because they'll snap it or broom-it too quickly. I don't want to get hit (poked)...

My suggestion would be to turn the quillons down more and do the filler in a harder material like aluminum or hard wood so it won't compress. It will also make the quillons more resiliant to blows. That space you've shown as foam now a hard substance could be painted matte black, and would not be ve...

With the tube, it's 4 or 5 oz. leather, usually chap leather (oil tanned) for the durability factor. Though I've done a few in vegetable tanned for color and finish preference. Without a tube, you need to use something pretty heavy for the sheat to maintain it's shape. If it should collapse on a gum...

Yeah. You can't glue rattan together. Per the SCA Marshall's handbook:

Pick a specific year and it will be easier to narrow down. 14th century could mean gowns, cotehardies, tunics, doublets or houpelands in varying layers, hem lengths and materials.
You might want to define "minor or lower nobility" as well.
